Great meal with special friends

I was in Savannah for a business trip and extended the trip for a couple days with some special friends. I found Elizabeth on 37th from an on line article called, "36 Hours in Savannah" by the New York Times. They were spot on about Elizabeth on 37th being a special place. The food was great and... read more

If this was once a cutting edge restaurant, it no longer is. The welcome is nonexistent (stand around in the foyer), the rooms are noisy and furnished with scarred kitchen chairs, and the food is okay but nothing wonderful. Nicely made peach mojitos.

The restaurant is in an old mansion. The rooms are large and comfortable. The staff was very attentive and answered all our questions. We bought an entree off the menu and one of the specials. Everything tasted better than we could have imagined. Only disappointment was the biscuits were a little dry the night we were there.

We arrived at Elizabeth's 20 minutes before our reservations and were happy to be seated almost immediately. We started with the seasonal special Sea Scallop appetizer which were two large Sea Scallops served over a bed of wilted arugula. Entree of peppered beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly. Dessert was average. The Savannah cream cake was dry and not very flavorful. Service... More

We are not easy to impress. We loved this place. It's a beautiful old mansion. We had a not so prime seat near the kitchen so there was a lot of traffic (but we got to see the various dishes coming out!) We had a wonderful dinner and would highly recommend this place. We split the scallop appetizer which they... More

If the waiting area had been adequate, for what turned out to be a longer than expected wait, then this would have been a better experience. Telling people that they can stand by the doorway and buy a drink whilst they wait for their booked table, feels a bit tacky. The porch saved us, even though it was coolish outside.... More

Rather excellent and well prepared food and staff who really knew what they were doing. The meal was expensive but it was worth it. My fish was nothing short of spectacular an my partner's vegetarian dish was very good. The house may feel like it needs a little TLC but that just added to the ambiance for me.

In an older building, out of the main tourist area this restaurant had an interesting menu, with lots of fresh local seafood. I had the Spicy Rice with Georgia shrimp and clams, sausage and fish. It was like jambalaya, and was seasoned well. The shrimp, sausage and clams were very good. My wife had the flounder served over a hash... More

After reading all the great reviews and hearing all the hype, I really was expecting incredible food but was pretty disappointed. My husband and I ordered the homemade mozzarella and tomato salad which was just ok and the mozzarella wasn't very fresh. He ordered the steak and was pretty pleased with his. I ordered the blackeyed pea patty with mushrooms... More

The restaurant is in a beautiful home with lovely furnishings and decor. The food was fabulous, the best meal we had in Savannah. Everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered. I had the roasted red snapper special with two Georgia shrimp on top and it was cooked perfectly. If you are looking for a nice meal and are willing... More
