Description: One of the city's most consistently stylish restaurants evokes a low-key, counterculture bistro, but its cuisine is grander and more cutting-edge than its industrial-looking decor and its level of hipness would imply. Wrapped in warm brick and cool steel, the Sapphire Grill has steeped itself in a history of fine culinary tradition. Christopher Nason is the owner and the most talked about chef of the moment in Savannah, preparing what he defines as a "coastal cuisine" based on seafood hauled in on the day of its preparation from nearby waters. From seasonal chanterelles and oregon black truffles, to the most tender cuts of meat and delicate seafood, Chef Nason and his team work feverishly to keep Sapphire at the mark expected of her.

While I dine downtown often and at restaurants within all price ranges, I had never been to Sapphire Grill before. A friend insisted it was time for me to give it a try. Last evening I started off with a Caesar salad that was extremely ordinary with too much dressing and two soggy, tough croutons. Not a great start to... More

We dined with friends quite early on a Friday and so it was almost empty when we arrived. Not the case by the time we had finished i can assure you. It is an old building in the center of the town and the decor is traditional but comfortable with bare wooden floors but nice enough table settings etc. The... More

Still good but not the same food variety, selection and service as a couple years ago. I've been in, around & a vendor to the Foodservice industry for so long and am probably a little picky when I go back to a place that used to be awesome, especially with a $100pp check avg.

This was our first dinner in Savannah and the Sapphire Grill set the bar very high. The scallop with fennel appetizer was fabulous. My breast of duck was cooked to perfection and my husband said the chicken with Brie was the best chicken he's ever had. We don't usually do dessert but splurged on the chocolate gateau with lavender almond... More

We were in Savannah for the Rock n Roll marathon and that night we had not made any restaurant reservations. We took a walk and stumbled upon the Sapphire Grill. They were pretty full but fortunately were able to take us. Usually we check out reviews before going to restaurants that we are not familiar with, but we were tired... More

We made early reservations here in order to fit it in with our plans for the night. The food was delicious, however, the manager and staff did not seem fully engaged and attentive to their diners. Granted it was early in the evening, however, they missed their opportunity to build relationships with their guests while waiting for their busy time... More

There is some great talent in the kitchen. Terrific swordfish, crab cakes, foie and small loaves of bread... We are here and loved it on the first day of our trip. Next reservation was at one of the well known, traditional restaurants- totally disappointing- mediocre food served like warm. Returned to Sapphire for a second great meal. Waiters need to... More

After we were abruptly asked if we had reservations, we were shown to a table near the bar. The restaurant was only about 25% full, yet it took at least 10 minutes to get a cocktail. The bartender looked very bored. I started with a foie gras appetizer ($21) which was served very quickly after we ordered - the wine... More

We enjoyed a lovely dinner with friends at Sapphire Grill on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was intimate and relaxed. Service was a little slow, but it was a busy night. The seafood we all enjoyed was excellent. The scallops were especially good (with white truffle butter). The ability to mix and match entrees, sauces and sides made for a... More
