We ate here on a Sunday and were instructed by friends to get there and line up at least 1 hour before opening which was great advice. We were in the first round of people that were allowed in to eat which was nice. We sat at long tables with all of our new friends we met in line and... More

Our first time at Mrs Wilkes and what an experience. The food was delicious. The staff was so friendly and happy. Laughed and had a great time visiting with strangers. Sitting at a large table with people we don't know would not be something we would usually like doing but the atmosphere was so upbeat that it made it fun.... More

I am a local and have lived here my entire life and find that it is past time that I share some of the secrets of Savannah's historic district. Mrs. Wilkes has been around long before I was born and will probably be around long after I am no longer of this earth. Here is how it works--- make sure... More

If you go to Savannah, your trip will not be complete without a visit to Mrs Wilkes. You'll arrive and most likely see a line(we waited 1/2 hour). Well, it is well worth the wait. You approach the table where all the food is set up family style. Amazing fried chicken was the center piece that was accompanied by all... More

The best!! You will wait in line but it is well worth the wait. It is all homemade. Try everything. Don't forget to pick up your dirty dish when you are finished.

This was a first for me! You sit at a table of 10 people. You immediately start talking to all of them, it was so fun. Then the food starts coming and coming and coming. We got lucky, no line to wait as we got there at 1:30. Main dishes-southern fried chicken, meatloaf, beef stew and pulled pork. All of... More

This is the very best Southern cooked food in Savannah. Seating is family style so you share a table with interesting tourists and locals alike. Everything was delicious! There was a bit of a wait because they seat in groups and it is first come first served. Worth the wait!

Lots of food -- all served family style to our table of 8. We met folks from NW Georgia as well as Syracuse NY at our table. Other than being delicious, we were able to sample foods we would not normally order on our own. The wait staff could not be more kind also.

RATED First time here and we arrived just as the 1st group was let in...about 11:20am...waited about 30-40 mins for our group to go and be seated with 4 others....the bowls of food looked 7 smelled better, we passed the bowls around the table making small talk & then fell silent as we tasted from our plates. Amazing hearty food... More
