Family style dining with over 20 dishes on your table...

Mrs. Wilkes was great! Good ole Southern good! We enjoyed the family table setting. All our table guests were from different places. Worthwhile visit!

This place is well worth all the hype!! First note - they serve from 11 to 2 and be prepared to wait. Next note is - cash only. Last note is - go hungry. This is family style and you are seated with strangers, what a great way to hear stories from different people from different places. The food is... More

Mrs. Wilkes is a great country restaurant....that is to say if you like fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, slaw, corn bread and other great vegetables and meats filling the table to almost an over fill... With the fine food comes great southern sweat tea and cobblers galore for dessert! Come early.....lunch is served from 1100 till 2:00... More

You will wait on line for this "little gem" but it will be worth the time. It is unique. The dining room is small, but the food offering is HUGE... The meal is like Thanksgiving, but that is only the beginning. When it was all set out, there were probably 25 different dishes on our table! You will dine with... More

There is a reason there is always a line forming outside this place. The food is authentic southern - ample and finger licking good! You will be seated with others and eat family style. A very tasty and pleasant meal. My tip is to wear loose clothing as the food is so delicious and plentiful it's hard to resist. Overall... More

We would not go to Savannah without eating at Mrs. Wilkes. The 25 or so choices served family style in front of 10 soon to be friends are all delicious. Our favorites were the juicy, yet crispy fried chicken, creamed corn, sweet potatoes and collard greens. The wait on the sidewalk out front is worth it-be patient and you will... More

The fried chicken was delicious; however, I was not a fan of the boarding house style of serving. Dining with strangers has its disadvantages. All platters ended up at the other side of the huge table and some never passed my way at all. Some of the food tasted re-heated to the point of exhaustion. Mrs. Wilks restaurant is a... More

Mrs. Wilkes was the one must-do that was recommended by any of our friends. We made it there with a bit of a hangover that was cured after eating mountains of southern food. Even the healthier looking items like summer squash were delicious. Also thanks for the staff for being extremely friendly when we had to walk to the closest... More

We visited midweek arriving at 12:30 and had approx 1 1/4 hr wait. The time passed relatively easy as we chatted with a nice couple ahead of us. The amount and variety of food was unbelievable! More importantly it tasted homemade and was delicious. My only disappointment was the mashed potatoes. Those did not taste like peeled and mashed potatoes... More
