I was looking for a local not chain and this is a great place for a fried seafood platter. Would definitely recommend and go back
Just a little "hole in the wall" tavern, with the best Bloody Mary's on River Street, and the friendliest staff around. The owner, S.O.B. (Son of Bernie), made sure everything was to our liking and the service was great. Went out of their way to make our anniversary celebration special! And the food ain't bad either...our favorite, Low Country Boil.
When I came into Bernie's on a sunday evening the place was only about 60% full, but I waited about 15 minutes to get a beer and a menu. Once I was notices service was better, though still slow. the food however, was REALLY good. The steamed crawfish were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the fried oyster were great too.... More
This is a great little place. Mostly like a sports bar. Now been there twice and the food has been great. We had chile and Clam Chowder on our latest visit. Both were really good and the place is not expensive. Good beer selection
I made it my mission to find the best bloody mary while i was visiting my daughter in Savannah. Bernie's on River Street definitely had the best one in my opinion, although I only sampled 6 places. They use a very thick homemade bloody mary mix, and when mixed with the vodka was delicious!
We walked in looking to find lunch while we were wandering River St. We didn't know what we were getting into, and actually came out very pleased! I had the Shrimp Po' Boy, which was really good, and my wife had a BBQ Pork Sandwich that was awesome. This isn't a fancy place by any means, but the food is... More

Some may find it a little heavy on the celery salt, but other than that it's a tasty horseradishy and hot saucy treat. The food is... More
Walked right in, sat down, had great champagne, and the food was excellent! The waitress was a little busy but she did keep an eye on us just in case we needed her.
food was good. atmosphere was nice but the service left a lot to be desired and ruined our time here. It took us 45 minutes to get a beer, and hour for food and then we stood at the counter for an additional 20 minutes to buy a shirt and ended up leaving. Rather then apologizing for the delay and... The oysters I enjoyed today were delicious as was my sherry crab soup! My husband's quesadilla was very tasty, too. However, our service was just ok. Our waitress was not very attentive. She wasn't a bad server, but we had to wait about fifteen minutes after we finished eating for her to come back by to check on us. We'll... More
