Nice Place for Paella

A traditional Iberian restaurant complete with waiters in the red jackets of yesteryear. The paella is nice with ample portions for two. The waiters are attentive, and the menu has many different offerings.

I wanted so much to like this landmark restaurant. Tio Pepe is a Baltimore institution. Located on a Mt Vernon side street, the restaurant is a warren of low-ceilinged rooms entered at the base of steps leading below street level. I rather like the lingering intrigue and romance of a bygone era that the place evokes upon entering. It felt... More

Excellent restaurant - very old school service, superb food. Slightly pricey, but the food is well worth the extra. Kitchen puts a lot of effort into food preparation and tableside presentation is super theater. We went with a medium size party of 10 and had a variety of dishes from appetizer to two of Tio Pepe's signature flourishes - the... More

I have been wanting to visit Tio Pepe for a long time. A friend took me for my birthday and it was so perfect! The atmosphere is lovely. It's a cozy underground cove. I came for the paella & it was amazing! It was so good-it needed no seasoning whatsoever! I also had the sangria. It wasn't the best I've... More

Authentic Spanish cuisine! It's a little hard to find but so worth it! The tapas is outstanding and the paella is absolutely delicious!

The patrons are lively. Although it is a special occasion restaurant it doesn't feel stuffy. Everyone is friendly. The sangria is rich and full bodied.

The atmosphere inside the restaurant reminded be of Spain. You walk down the stairs and into the restaurant and greeted by the host. It was a Tuesday night so we did not have reservations and was seated right away. I would imagine that reservations are a must during the weekend. We first ordered a pitcher of Sangria and we enjoyed... More
