Best way to describe the experience is we left there completely stuffed and satisfied yet we still wanted to gorge ourselves with crab cakes (with the large chunks of crab meat sticking out), unreal fried oysters, awesome mac & cheese, and fried scallops. The tastiest lump crab cakes (barely any filler) I've ever tried. Since my boyfriend and I don't eat raw oysters, the server suggested fried oysters - fantastic! The fried scallops were perfectly done and sweet. Side portions were HUGE! You definitely won't leave hungry. Excellent service too. more

The smoking ban opens up tables in the bar area downstairs. Previously the smoke made it unbearable. Remember the advice - eat oysters in months containing an "r" - which corresponds perfectly to eating at Mama's. When the oysters are fresh, order them. Ask the server to make a suggestion. I go to this place often although it is hard to find a seat at the bar due to its narrow space. I've only eaten while at the bar, not at the tables. The food is excellent!
