Pretty Darn Good

I visit Baltimore often and my brother-in-law is the reason I finally stopped at this place. It's really not for eating-in so you just order and leave with your BBQ goodies. The sandwiches, ribs and fries are really good and their special BBQ sauce is quite delicious. Try this place!

Chaps is a Baltimore institution. Comfortably situated on the parking lot of a local strip club, they serve some the of the best sandwiches, especially pit beef, in East Baltimore. This is not fine dining! It is just a hut with some inside and some outside seating and, the day we were there, the lunch crowd was as diverse as... More

Ok... Unless you're best buds, don't go here on a date!!! Seating is limited and fast food-like. Sit outside if it's a nice day. If it's lunchtime you might have to eat in your car. They are VERY busy at lunch!!! BUT the sandwiches and subs are excellent!!! We like the Habbit pit roast beef, pit ham, pit turkey and... More

Once again, let down by Guy Fieri. I like his show, but this is another dive maybe he should have let fall through the cracks. Not because of the food mind you, the food was pretty good. The place is so unclean that they would (or should) be shut down with a proper inspection. What concerns me the most is... More

We had the ribs, a beef sandwich, a pulled pork sandwich and a corned beef sandwich. The beef on the sandwich was a little tough, but, the ribs were great. Great sauce. Fries were crispy and delicious. Eating here is a requirement when in Baltimore.

I was just another one of the Food Channel folks coming to check this place out. Yes, it lives up to all of the hype! Got the "Beef (Best in Baltimore)" (their signature sandwich) and YES, it is killer! Even the fries were some of the best I've ever had. Service was fast and very friendly. Don't forget to check... The place is a dump but the pit beef sandwich is worth having to wait in line. The help is friendly and efficient. The small mac & cheese was truly small but tasty.

Ate there on a Wednesday afternoon. Had the Markie, beef, turkey and sausage. Huge sandwich and very good. Beef was tender. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Would make the trip from South Jersey just for a sandwich.

I went here with high expectations, but ended up feeling like this place is pretty overrated. The food was OK, and we had to wait in a long line to get pit beef that was not remarkable. We enjoyed every other place we ate in Baltimore more than we did Chaps. There wasn't really anything wrong with the food, but... More

We stopped on our way home from a race in VA based on a recommendation from a fellow foodie. We were NOT disappointed!! There were 5 of us, 4 adults and a toddler. No high chairs ( that I could see, and I was too hungry to ask as my stomach was growling from the smell of the grilling meat.... More
