Great ambiance, British Indian feel goes well with the great tasting food

One of my favourite Indian restaurants in Baltimore. It is snugged away in the residential area around the university, so quite easy to miss it. But the decor is exquisite, menu comprehensive and food quite delicious. The outdoor garden seating with fireplace adds a certain charm to this place, and... read more

Once upon a time, the Ambassador was able to justify its high prices with its dignified atmosphere and tasty Indian offerings. No more. The room is still pleasant, but the cuisine is mediocre: sauces are bland and the lamb, in particular, is of poor quality. The portions are tiny (they're even stingy with the rice), and the service is erratic.... More

The Ambassador restaurant sits in a beautiful setting in a lovely section of Baltimore's Guilford neighborhood. My wife and I have been here twice for their Indian lunch buffet which i thought was too BLAND for our taste. The setting is lovely but the food is too bland. They're much more better options for Indian food in the city.

My son and I were looking for a restaurant close to the hotel. The Ambassador is within walking distance of the hotel and worth every step! The Indian food is "the real deal." I visited India in 1993; the food and atmosphere at The Ambassador took me back in time to that visit.

Great Indian food, nice ambiance, good menu selection. We sat next to the fire and watched the snow come down for a really nice valentine's dinner. We ordered the appetizer plate, chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, and garlic naan. The service was prompt. My only complaint was how closely you are seated next to other tables. They needed some background... More

We came from Washington DC with a hungry stomach.. Food is delicious and quality of the food is really good. We had a buffet. Good number of options for vegetarian. First one to have these many options for vegetarian in American restaurant I have been so far.

After reading all the very positive reviews on Tripadvisor, I can't believe we sent to the same restaurant. This was supposed to be a special occasion, but it was anything but that. The texture of my beef entree was that of stew meat. The shish kebab my wife ordered was some sort of mystery meat. We were seated in the... More

This gem of an Indian restaurant in an old grand Tudor style apartment building. The dining room is classical Colonial Indian as is the cuisine. The dining room is very comfortable and the porch and garden seating is lovely with sparkling white lights. The tandoori is good and all traditional cuisine is gently done , not overly spicey. There is... More

Traditional dishes were top of the line but they also incorporated Maryland's love of crab and had a very special dish with big lump crab meat. We had chicken, lamb, crab, goat cheese, and tofu dishes and they were all wonderful. The ambiance is relaxing and inviting and the service is excellent.

Definitely go for the buffet before 2pm (includes Mimosas, wine, etc.) This is a great tip to enjoy a wide variety of the cuisine at the best price. For dinner, the crab dish is delicious (I forget the exact title.) Overall, this restaurant has very good food paired with phenomenal service and a romantic atmosphere, fireplaces, outdoor seating overlooking open... More
