Still Excellent

My wife and I went with another couple and we couldn't have had better weather for outdoor dining. we each ordered a different entrée and shared. We had the Goa fish, lamb Saag, chicken Tika Masala and shrimp Jingha Karari . All were excellent and well received. We have been hearing that the... read more

Great place for fine Indian dining. Gorgeous dining room and fantastic outdoor space - open to the outdoors in warm weather, with windowed 'garage' doors lowered and fireplaces blazing in cool weather. More expensive than most Indian restaurants, but the food is great and the service is terrific. One note: this is not your typical order-and-share Indian, but instead individual... More

Our most recent visit was very disappointing. Service was slow and decidedly unfriendly. Food was bland and the host was at front door in a ratty tshirt! We've been coming for years but not as interested any more.

When we lived in B'more in 2008 we found this jewel from a local recommendation. It is one of our favorites anywhere. Visited this week expecting more of the same. Everything was better. We got to sit outdoors on a fabulous July evening. I don't do outdoors; at the Ambassador I do. Service was perfect and very helpful. Food stunning.... More

We've been visiting The Ambassador for years but haven't been this year until recently. Service was poor. Host was wearing a tshirt (very unambassadorlike) and we had to wave down servers for almost everything. Food is on the bland side.

The food here is very, very good. Have enjoyed every meal here. The buffet is a real bargain, but I wish they had labels for things, as I can't eat lamb. The staff gets mixed reviews, either really good or very distant. We prefer the garden room to the dining room, which is quite dark.

Excellent Indian Cuisine in served in a delightful atmosphere. We frequently dine at this restaurant when in Baltimore, and have never been disappointed with the food, service and ambiance. Located in an upscale residential building, weather permitting the terrace can be opened, but our unseasonable rainy day prevented this on this last visit.

Once upon a time, the Ambassador was able to justify its high prices with its dignified atmosphere and tasty Indian offerings. No more. The room is still pleasant, but the cuisine is mediocre: sauces are bland and the lamb, in particular, is of poor quality. The portions are tiny (they're even stingy with the rice), and the service is erratic.... More

The Ambassador restaurant sits in a beautiful setting in a lovely section of Baltimore's Guilford neighborhood. My wife and I have been here twice for their Indian lunch buffet which i thought was too BLAND for our taste. The setting is lovely but the food is too bland. They're much more better options for Indian food in the city.
