Good pre-theater dinner

We were looking for a place to have dinner before going to a nearby play, and decided to go here. We had not been here for many years. We easily got a table, and had a very pleasant dinner. My husband loved the goulash, and I enjoyed my chicken Kiev. Best of all was the live trio playing/singing... read more

This restaurant may have the best food in Baltimore, but we wouldn't know. The hostess/waitress on Sat PM Jan 16 sat us, gave us water/menu and then proceeded to completely ignore us. Didn't ask about drink order, if we had any questions, nothing. She spent her time sitting about 4 feet away going over paperwork. After about 20 minutes, we... More

We have been several times, and the menu is always interesting. Nice vegetarian options. Excellent desserts as well.

It pains me to write this review because my husband and I absolutely loved our first visit. Due to financial issues my husband and I don't get to go out to dinner very often anymore. September 20 was my birthday, we put money away so I could have a nice birthday dinner. We decided on Ze Mean Bean because I... More

We ate there 5 Sept 2014 the night before we got married. We had made the arrangements in June. The food was awesome plus this is where the locals go and we are all about that. They serve Eastern European dishes. Sauerkraut ,sausage, great hearty dishes. Plus there are seafood dishes, which is what had. And forget about the specialty... More

This recent visit has told me not to return,Most of the menu items were not available. Most of the wine selections were not available. Salads were fresh and good. Meals (four different items ordered) were perfunctory (read: microwaved). Service was, at best, adequate, considering the place was empty at 7:00 pm. The Irish guitar singer was totally boring and intrusive.

Pirogues, beets, sauerkraut...very nice stuff! Reasonable wine list. I had the yellow beet salad, hubby had red beet salad. Imaginatively created.

Ze Mean Bean in Fells Point is the best Eastern European restaurant in Baltimore, we think. The pierogies are to die for. Prices are reasonable, service is fine, and there's even live music some times, if that's what you like. So if Polish or Hungarian is what you are looking for, Ze Mean Bean is where you need to go.

The Ze Mean Bean Café is a small restaurant in the Fell's Point district of Baltimore that serves ethnic Slavic dishes. We went for the Sunday brunch. The menu includes Benedict dishes, omelets, appetizers and a selection of sandwiches. The portions are adequate and well worth the price. The cafe's atmosphere is nothing special, cute and comfortable. My wife had... More
