I get to Hampden once a year when my band plays at HonFest, and since Cafe Hon is close to the stage area, I often go there afterwards for a post-gig dinner. It was pretty full when I got there, so service wasn't lickety split, but considering how busy they were, and that I was seated all the way at... More

You get to a point where you DO NOT want to chain restaurants. You want to experience something unique to the area. Went there after a cousin graduated. The owner and wait staff attended to all our requests for a larger party. Food was excellent. Crabcakes are great!

My wife and I visited Café Hon last weekend for our first time. I am sorry to say I was disappointed. The menu selection was small and the food I received for the price was not worth it. If you like the ambiance of Baltimore, this place is nice. But for me, the selection and quality for what I paid... More

A diner that is stuck in time, but in a good way. Cafe Hon has a wonderful 50s feel to it that you can only find in Baltimore. The meals we have had there (breakfast and lunch) have always been good. The service is always friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable. I have had their crab cake salad, which was... More

Thank you so much for such kind words. We at Cafe Hon work very hard to provide delicious casual cuisine with great local flavor, and to serve it up with warm, Bawlmor-style charm. We are looking forward to your return visit! More

I had heard about this restaurant for years, so I was excited when I finally got to visit it yesterday. Sadly, it was horrible. We arrived at 1:30 PM, long past the time when the lunch crowd would have been there. It took a long time for a server to arrive. She got us our drinks, took our order and... More

We take negative reviews very seriously, and often use them as opportunities to better our staff. As such, we research the entire visit, pulling up computerized, time-stamped records and camera recordings. Given what you listed as having ordered, it was very easy to find your check. (It is also evident that you and the other review posted on the same... More

I am a long-time Baltimorean who recently moved out of state. Back in town for a visit with family, I wanted to take my husband, who has never been to Baltimore, to a good old Baltimore establishment. I wanted him to experience that Baltimore hon-spitality that Hampden is known for. It had been a few years since my last visit... More

This establishment was the greatest place I have ever eaten. The owner was a wonderful and warm person. The food was extremely tasty, and the plating was spot on. I will go back when in Baltimore!

Cafe Hon is one of those long-time Baltimore restaurants you really want to like. My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a busy December Saturday, doing some holiday shopping with everyone else on the Avenue. The place was packed, but we were able to get a table right away. The bar is separated from the restaurant by a... More

The bar staff is friendly and efficient. They know what beer we like and when they see us walk through the door, a Resurrection is waiting when we sit down. The food is sometimes hit or miss, but the burgers are always good. The bar is usually filled with locals, whereas the restaurant side is usually tourists.

Though it was a favorite in the past and has gone downhill a bit, I still love the Grits Supreme and they rest is worth the occasional trip. Good breakfast isn't as easy to find in the town as most places. The uniqueness of the Cafe will guarantee it's survival and the food will improve in time I'm sure. Service... More
