Eh...Take It Or Leave It

Went for lunch with my wife, she had gotten a Groupon. Sat in the downstairs section as you walk in. Waitress was pleasant enough and handed us menus. First thing you'll notice, a couple of Mexican items, a few salads, and a ton of different hamburgers. We opted for the nachos with pulled pork and... read more

I live across the street. I'd love to eat there twice a week with my family, but alas I can't. They don't substitute an item even if it's just French fries. You can't have a drink special you had last week. They REFUSE, because the lady owner forbids it. It should be packed but it's not. The owner obviously doesn't... More

My wife & I live within walking distance of Alonso's & we were long term customers before the Alleged Mexican restaurant was opened next door. The place was cleaner before,(my arms didn't stick to the tables, ECH!) the food hasn't changed much & they've added a great gourmet pizza that my wife & I both agree, is fantastic. At first... Poor service (inconsiderate seating: 5 people in a 4 seat booth; main course came right after appetizers); bad food (except for pizza)

We lived in this neighborhood for 16 years and Alonso's was a landmark for good food, cold beer, and prompt service. Old man Alonso would sit at his seat at the bar and supervise every move with a critical eye. The burger was legendary and the pizza was first class. Except for an occasional roach, almost unavoidable in an old building,... More

Alonso's and Loco Hombre used to be magnets, but alas, no longer. We were there this evening, for drinks and food at Loco Hombre. Their margaritas are still excellent. Loco Hombre's space is comfortable for dining; Alonso's is a bar with TVs. Service was attentive enough, but just. Their nachos are great, but the bread pudding was so-so. Just a... More

When I was younger I used to love to drive to Alonso's with friends, eat their pizza (back then it was one price for cheese, one price for toppings no matter what or how many toppings you ordered) or have a monster burger with one of the variety of beers in the case up front. I came back with my... More

Alonzo's is famous for sandwiches, particularly burgers. My burger was so big, Ihurt my mouth trying to get the burger in it. The pain was worth it. delicious. It was a good happy hour and a great beer list. Nice, casual, with good bar food.

Where do I begin? First of all, I despise going to place and spending my money where the people serving you act as though they are doing you a favor by waiting on you. But that being said, I would prefer at least to have a neutral server rather than a server who hardly speaks to you or has a... More

The burgers are pretty good. There is a large assortment of beers, but we waited at least 15 minutes only to be told they were out of both beers we ordered. My friend then asked for wine and it was served in a dirty glass - eww. Our food took quite a long time to come out. Really not worth... More
