Poor service (inconsiderate seating: 5 people in a 4 seat booth; main course came right after appetizers); bad food (except for pizza)

We lived in this neighborhood for 16 years and Alonso's was a landmark for good food, cold beer, and prompt service. Old man Alonso would sit at his seat at the bar and supervise every move with a critical eye. The burger was legendary and the pizza was first class. Except for an occasional roach, almost unavoidable in an old building,... More

Alonso's and Loco Hombre used to be magnets, but alas, no longer. We were there this evening, for drinks and food at Loco Hombre. Their margaritas are still excellent. Loco Hombre's space is comfortable for dining; Alonso's is a bar with TVs. Service was attentive enough, but just. Their nachos are great, but the bread pudding was so-so. Just a... More

When I was younger I used to love to drive to Alonso's with friends, eat their pizza (back then it was one price for cheese, one price for toppings no matter what or how many toppings you ordered) or have a monster burger with one of the variety of beers in the case up front. I came back with my... More

Alonzo's is famous for sandwiches, particularly burgers. My burger was so big, Ihurt my mouth trying to get the burger in it. The pain was worth it. delicious. It was a good happy hour and a great beer list. Nice, casual, with good bar food.

Where do I begin? First of all, I despise going to place and spending my money where the people serving you act as though they are doing you a favor by waiting on you. But that being said, I would prefer at least to have a neutral server rather than a server who hardly speaks to you or has a... More

The burgers are pretty good. There is a large assortment of beers, but we waited at least 15 minutes only to be told they were out of both beers we ordered. My friend then asked for wine and it was served in a dirty glass - eww. Our food took quite a long time to come out. Really not worth... More

A great go-to place for burgers, chicken enchiladas and delicious thin crust pizza. The Margarita Pizza with fresh mozzarella is always a good choice. One of the few places in the area to serve food at late hours.

Alonso's/El Loco Hombre used to be my place to go for hamburgers when in Baltimore. This year, it was somewhat of a disappointment (food, service (!), drinks (FLAT Pepsi, again!), atmosphere...). It is hard to remain perfect for a long time, I guess.... I'll give it another chance but I probably need to find another hangout for when I am... More

This is a great neighborhood joint with style. The seasoned hostess and wait staff are seeped in character after years of dealing with a variety of clientele. The drinks are generous. The draft beer list extensive with a choice of 12 or 16 ounce servings. The specialties of the house are pizza or burgers in either 8 or 16 belly... More
