Outstanding Italian Restaurant

A must every time we visit Baltimore. This is a wonderful Northern Italian restaurant. There are a variety of selections that can be made from the menu, each of which will be well prepared. The pasta and veal dishes are memorable.

A sensational restaurant that bears raving about. The food selections were plentiful and each were epicurean in their own right! What a divine experience. Need more visits to experience so many other tantalizing works of art on the menu!

If your going to the nearby theater at Center Stage or the symphony this is a good bet. Pricey but tasty in a pretty if small environment. But for authentic Italian travel a mile south to Little Italy where the food is exquisite.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner here with family in celebration of a birthday. The waiter was professional and worked well with our table's fun mood. He recommended several appetizers including the Caprese salad, and a special prosciutto appetizer. We also ordered the Veal Scallopini which was flavorful as well as the Salmon. The serving sizes were plentiful and we all... More

Worst dining experience we've had in a looong time. We were "greeted" by the hostess with "do you have a reservation?" (we did). She never uttered another word. We were seated at one their cramped tables and there we sat, and sat and sat. Our waitress did not come to our table until 15 minutes after we were seated. When... More

The food was fine - very nice salad, burgers, omelettes etc. you could get Italian fare as well if you weren't worried about falling asleep in the afternoon. But with only one waiter on duty everything proceeded quite slowly. Seemed like a nice place, our experience may not be typical -- people rave about it for dinner.

I dined here when I was in Baltimore on business after much research on the top authentic italian restaurants in the area. I opted for Sotto Sopra and am so glad I did. The service, for starters, is very good and professional. They have an excellent selection of cheeses, cured meats, and small plates such as polenta. I enjoyed the... More

Warm is the word. Warm service, heart pleasing atmosphere, palate pleasing Italian flavors. There are some missteps but Sotto Sopra almost always delivers on the temptations its menu promises. And in a central Baltimore location where one can leave Harbor tourists behind and enjoy a nice wine and dinner. A wonderful compliment to a Walters Gallery visit.

Recommended by a friend and just around the corner from Hotel Indigo (walking distance). Service was "present" but not overbearing. Good suggestions by the waiter, Adrian. Food wasn't the typical Italian...very creative and delicous. Good wine list for all tastes. We will come back again if in the neighborhood.

Our doctor here in NYC had recommended Sotto Sopra once she found out that we were spending a few days in Baltimore. We were not disappointed. Great service and a great meal, in fact we were so pleased with our dinner that we returned for lunch the following day. The bonus? They extended Restaurant Week for several more days.
