Couldn't have asked for a better meal!

I'm not usually a big fan of Afghan food, but I know my husband loves it, and since I've heard such amazing things about this place, I decided it was worth a try. I was not disappointed at all! Friends suggested the restaurant during a recent visit. The restaurant ranks in Baltimore's Top Fifty, as the articles and ratings I mthe window attest. We went for dinner on s Friday night. The place was packed. If we didn't have a reservation I doubt we could have gotten in. The menu features Afghan dishes, which broadly follows the style of... More

This was my first time at an Afghan restaurant, but I am not stranger to very diverse food. I literally tried every appetizer, 1 salad, and 2 of the dinners along with some desert. WIth the exception of the desserts just being ok, all of the meals were between good and outstanding with friendly service. Don't leave room for the... More

While in Baltimore I was feeling a bit adventuresome for dinner and wanted to try a new food. I saw a few blocks from my hotel was an Afghani restaurant. I know nothing about Afghani food so I gave it a try. The restaurant is in a great historic neighborhood, walkable from downtown. The restaurant had tables with white linen... More

OK, so we've been wanting to try Helmand for as long as we've been living in the area (or, rather, we'd been wanting to go together as my husband had eaten at Helmand before, but ages ago!). I have to preface this review by saying that we both absolutely LOVE Afghan food and been to a number of Afghan restaurants... More

Just ok. Food was nothing special. We were in Baltimore for a weekend get away with kids and wanted to stay away from chain restaurants around the harbor. It was not something I would recommend to go out of the way for. Maybe we are just used to a lot more variety and flavor coming from Philly/New York. Not a... More

Unimpressed. Went on a Sunday evening with a group of 5 adults. Place was packed and sounded like a cafeteria! Waiter seemed uninterested in helping us choose from the unfamiliar menu. Food arrived eventually and was nearly thrown on the table. It tasted okay, but the atmosphere ruined it for us. Will not recommend or return.

I am not sure why I have been avoiding Afghan food. That's silly. A bunch of us headed over after listening to an empowering Wes Moore at the Enoch Pratt Library. We were hungry and basically devoured the bread the moment it hit the table. Thank goodness for the Kaddo Borwani. They pan fry baby pumpkin and sprinkle it with... More

My friend invited me here for my first night in Baltimore. The place is really beautiful, and the service is excellent as well. The food is delicious! I highly recommend it. The only thing is that they confused my order, I wanted a plate that had chicken, and instead got beef, which was really good, but I would have preffered... More

It's not a fancy fine dining type of restaurant, but it is an etnic style casual restaurant with very tasty dishes & some options for non meat eaters. One of my favorites is the pumpkin & yogurt. Comfortable atmosphere, too.
