This restaurant is actually owned by the brother of the President of Afghanistan. It gets very busy on the weekends but I made a reservation the day of and only had to wait a few minutes. The service was fabulous, and the food was like nothing i have had before. The coffee is crazy!!! If you want to be up for hours, have a sip. :) Highly recommend this place, it was such a nice surprise.

The restaurant offered a unique cuisine, cozy atomosphere and fairly affordable food. Before this visit I had never had Afghanistani food. While it is similar to Indian food and also to Ethipiopian food, the flavors were distinctive. I enjoyed my meal and had no complaints, but I also wasn't blown away.

It had been 15-20 years since we had eaten at The Helmand and now I'm saying what a loss for us. The place is lively and fun, but a tad loud for our tastes, though it was a Saturday night.
