Who woulda thunk

I'm a NYC Pizza snob so I was really surprised I enjoyed the pizza at Matthew's so much. Weird crust was thin and crispy and the sauce perfect. The giant salad and a large pizza was more than enough to feed 2. This was easily the best value we had in Baltimore this trip.

Do not expect to leave Matthew's without adding a few inches to your waist. It is worth every calorie. The restaurant itself is in a old school Baltimore row-house which means very cozy. There are only a handful of tables so the wait can be long at times. I suggest early dinner hours as being your best bet to speed... More

Matthew's pizza is an institution in Baltimore. All the pizzas are personal sized, and although the topping selections may not be what you would expect in a "normal" pizza place, what they offer here is probably more traditional and authentic. I would recommend you try the Anna's stuffed pie or the crab meat pie. No matter what you order, you... More

I was turned on to Matthews two years ago when i came to town for my brothers funeral. It was a place that he felt had the best pizza in town and i have to agree. I will try to go every time i am in Baltimore for my brother and for the best pizza!

Been to Matthews on every visit to Baltimore. Never changes, including the painting of famous Italian statues on the restroom doors for identification. Always order the pizza with everything on it. Comes in large and single size. I find the single is about all I can handle with the pile of cheese on it. Make sure to visit them on... More

A Baltimore institution, don't be put off by the outside. It is located among rowhouses. The pizza is great, as are the salads which can easily feed three or four people. Matthews has won many awards. It is not fancy, but a great place for a fun, casual, delicious Italian meal (feast.)

Pizza and french fries are two of my favorite foods and Matthew's totally lives up to the reviews! They are a bit expensive, but you'll find that it's totally worth it! My favorite dishes are the 3 cheese, Margherita, and the meatballs! The interior has maybe 8-10 tables so it's not huge, but whether or you dine in or take... More

A little more than a year ago I did a websearch for the best pizza in Baltimore. One place consistantly came up, Matthew's. So we decided to give it a try. We have been back several times since then and that's with a 30 minute drive from the Parkville area in northeast Baltimore. The pizzas are absolutely delicious. A crunchy... More

I've lived in Baltimore my entire life and managed to miss out on this Baltimore icon. After my brother prompted me to try this local pizzeria, I was upset that I had not tried it sooner. This is far from any chain or local sub shop type pizzeria, and that is a good thing! The pizza is made the same... More

We ordered take out from Matthew's Pizzeria for the first time based on rave reviews from friends. We found the menu to be rather limited in terms of pre-defined pizza selections. There are endless possibilities in terms of building a pizza and that's where it just seemed expensive. We tried to just pare down the Everything Pizza and were told... More
