My partner and I came here for lunch after a visit to the Baltimore Museum of Art. We enjoyed an artisan pizza which was wood fired and delicious. The ambiance was lovely. The old building had interesting architectural features. We discovered we were sitting on...old church benches. Wine and beer was reasonable and a nice pour. We would definitely return to this restaurant.More

After waiting an hour we asked for our pizza and was informed that they forgot it! and we should order pasta as it would take too long. Are you kidding me? what a joke. a crappy waiter topped off the whole ordeal, never again will...be too soon. no they were not busy, only 4 tables and total incompetence.More

We have been going here with increased frequency. We find the food consistently good. The pizza is really good. Great drinks, service, and a cozy fun atmosphere. We strongly recommend this place.

We had arugula & fennel salad, Margherita pizza, papperdelle with wild boar bolognese, and wild mushroom risotto. Everything was outstanding, like a trip to Italy. Desserts great too- tiramisu, panna cotta, and the candy bar cake, especially the tiramisu. Prompt, unobtrusive, friendly service. We’ll be...back!!More

Thought the food was good, great beer menu. Went there twice, first night I was alone, sat by myself and read at the bar, quiet night to myself, everyone around me seemed to be having fun but I wasn't expecting much and had a nice...time. Second time went back with my boyfriend and the food took forever, one bartender talked our ears off when we were very much talking and being with each other, but the other came up to me after the meal and asked why I tipped so low before. The question stunned and angered me that not only he asked me in front of the bar and my partner, but also that he brought up how much money I gave them. The night was a huge let down and I left infuriated.More

To celebrate my birthday, my husband made a reservation at Birroteca. We were warmly greeted and given the table he requested on Open Table. Tim, our server, came right over. He was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. My husband always enjoys a Rye...Manhattan and Birroteca makes a really good one. We were surprised that they could not make a Southern Comfort Old Fashion as they did not have Southern Comfort on the bar. Not a problem, we ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio by La Feria from Veneto. We told Tim we were not in a rush. We were slightly surprised when they brought our appetizers and salad at the same time. Our most favorite appetizer is the Burrata Cheese Bruschetta which has melted grape tomatoes and basil on top of the bruschetta. Our only disappointment was the bruschetta was not toasted well – it was limp. The Kale salad was fresh with beets, hazelnuts, and burrata cheese dressed with a white balsamic vinaigrette and lemon-honey drizzle. While we were still enjoying our appetizers and salad, they brought out my husband’s dinner entree. We requested that they take it back as we were not ready for our main courses. For our main courses, my husband had the Homemade Pappardelle with Wild Boar Bolognese and Parmesan. I really like the Duck Duck Goose – a very interesting pizza topped with Duck Confit, Fig-Onion Jam, Balsamic, Fontina & Asiago, and a Duck Egg. We were both thrilled with our main courses. For my birthday, the restaurant treated me to an Italian Kit Kat (with a lighted candle), which was a really decadent dessert with dark chocolate crunch, chocolate truffle, hazelnut mouse, sea salt, and caramel. Oh my, I was in heaven! My husband is a lover of ice cream, and he thoroughly enjoyed the Taharka Brothers Chocolate Love.More

Good pizza and salads for an early dinner before a movie. Our waiter was nice but was working too many tables to provide great service while we sat in the bar area(management issue not the waiter's fault). Minor items but I never received the extra...salal dressing I requested or was able to ask for hots and parmesan to go with the pizza. I could tell our waiter was just trying to keep up and I didn't want to be a pain. The basic house salad was a bit lacking (ingredient quality and freshness could be improved) however the beet salad was great! At a restaurant of this level and pricing service are just as important as food.More

Have heard good things ability this place so four of us went on a Sunday for lunch/brunch. It was not busy in the dining room (only two other tables at the time). We ordered two appetizers for the table, bottomless mimosas and four separate entrees....We got first appetizer and mimosas. Good so far. Then they brought my entree which they got wrong and had to take back but not the second appetizer. Finally the second appetizer showed up. We had ordered shrimp and tomato bruschetta. It came with 3 pieces (there were four of us) and the sauce in a bowl with no spoon to put it on the bread. We had to take fork from a nearby table to put it on the bread which we had to cut so we could share. Then the other three got their entrees but mine did not come for awhile. In addition we had to ask for for another of our bottomless mimosas. I realize this is just first world whining and i should be grateful I can afford to eat out. I get it but I also expect a place that fancies itself as a nice local restaurant to take that seriously and provide good serviceMore

Our family does not eat out often so when we do, it’s a treat. For our daughters’ 13th birthday she asked to get carry out. We are gluten free so I went into findmeglurenfree. That’s how we discovered Birroteca. The pizza was amazing! Soon after,...we were invited to a party and surprised to find out it was at Birroteca. Food was amazing again! Tonight we decided to go out to dinner and couldn’t wait to go back. It was terrible. We were greeted by an unfriendly hostess. There were 2 cars in the lot bc it was early but we weren’t allowed to eat in dining room, even though we offered to be out quickly. Ok, we decided to restart our experience in the bar. Then no gluten free pizza...disappointing but ok, we decided to regroup again. Waitress said mac n cheese was favorite thing on menu so we ordered it. Pasta was swimming in a milky sauce and no cheese. She was sure it had cheese but there wasn’t any and no amount of being cheerful about it was going to change that. Clams were also terrible. Mussels and Brussels sprouts were awesome! Half our meal was great and other half truly was the worst. Then we were charged $11 each for 2 small (child sized) Mac n cheese dishes...with no cheese. She comped the dessert and we paid $22 for 4oz of gluten free pasta with a milky sauce. Finally, at the table next to us, a diner mentioned a dish and our waiter had same response we heard...“it’s her favorite”. Unlikely to return.More

When only one of our dinners was served and we waited for the three others for more than 25 minutes, I asked the waitress what had happened. My question was basically dismissed by the server. I suggested we not leave the full tip. One of...our friends questioned the cost of her drink. Before I could explain the huge markup restaurants take, the manager interjected himself into the conversation and told us to eat elsewhere. I confronted him about this and was met with sarcasm and disdain. All he or the waitress had to do was explain the delay rather than dismiss the question and none of this would have happened. Clearly the manager has no interest in keeping customers.More

This pizza and seafood bistro is built in one of the old repurposed Baltimore mill factories. Our GPS took us down some back streets and literally down a dark alley to the crowded parking lot of this eatery. Inside the din of customers was a...bit disconcerting. I am glad I don't wear hearing aids! The beer list is exhaustive and the seafood truly delectable--esp. the calamari and mussels. Don't wince at the bill when all is eaten. Great food! Good service.More

Looking at the pictures and reviews I was so hoping that this could be a restaurant that I could go to again and again. On first impression everything was as it was supposed to be, but the devil is in the details. Normally I would...not complain about long wait times on service, but if I see a part of the staff just hanging around while nothing is moving, things can be improved. It is a management problem, not a service problem, to have staff where needed and when needed. The octopus was almost great, if it hadn´t been too salty and the garlic not burnt. The pizza looked fabulous, but ... the sauce was like from a can, the prosciutto was oxidated and the crust was like it was made from frozen bread dough. So I´m sorry to say, the details ruined it fro me.More
