A Truly Excellent Restaurant in Hampden!

Right from the minute we walked in, my wife and I knew this was going to be an experience out of the ordinary. We were greeted by owner Debi Bell-Matassa, who escorted us to our table. She took note of my guitar scarf and we got into a short discussion of guitars. And believe me folks, Debi knows... read more

We went just at the beginning of 2015 and walked around Hampden, took in the Christmas lights and then had a wonderful dinner at Alchemy. The three of us chose all different things from the menu - I had a pear salad and red snapper my two sons chose the crab bisque and tenderloin steak and the french onion soup... More

Ohhh, I am so confused when I read the glowing reviews. I certainly did not experience what others did. As soon as I walked in I walked outside again to check that I was in the right place. It was dark and grim seeming and the hostess was obviously put out that she had to seat us, so told us... More

Viewed the Christmas lights on 34th street in Hampden and then took the family of seven to Alchemy for dinner. EVERYTHING was delicious. The Crab mac & cheese, Braised Beef Cheek French onion (More than could be eaten) , crabcakes (two large), pork on pork, VERY large serving, stuffed winter squash were all perfectly served. Wait staff were exceptional. Will... More

Im in love with the food. We have brunch today. My husband have a tradicional breakfast and i have a bristo french toast...its beautiful and delicious. The bottonless mimosa is very affordable. I really recomend this place. Good staff, good atmosphere and most important: delicious food.

We went here for date night prior to seeing a show. The drinks were expensive (Salty Lips - salted caramel martini and Mai Tai Mule), but heavy on the alcohol and good taste. For starters, the crab mac and cheese and crab bisque were very tasty, but filling. Both were creamy and loaded with crab. For the main entrée, we... More

Went for lunch with my daughter. The chorizo burger was juicy and not too spicy, the bun and garnishing a we're perfect. DD had lamb and sweet potato and Brussels sprouts with cheese. Interesting combinations and very tasty. Will definitely go again as it's a short walk from her place.

When we want to treat ourselves or have friends in town, we go to Alchemy, a store front restaurant in a small gentrified and fun neighborhood of Baltimore, surrounded by working class neighbors, yet this restaurant has Continental aspects to its cooking. However, a favorite dish of mine is there vegetarian offering, some sort of stuffed squash or even eggplant,... More

This restaurant is situated on 'The Avenue' W36th Street, which boasts a collection of quaint, artsy shops and restaurants. The whole street is interesting to explore. I had dinner at Alchemy. Their specials were all based on the fall season. The pork and pumpkin main on a bed of carrots was delicious, perfectly done. The starter of mozzarella and tomato... More
