Great Mexican Food

Tasty food and hearty portions. Unfortunately, other establishments are hurting business and the atmosphere is a little low energy. Still worth a stop when you want something other than pub food!

This was our 3rd time dining there on Sat. Our friends are local Astorians and recommended this place awhile back. * Simply some of the best Mexican food anywhere in Oregon. The owners are friendly and insightful, and the entire waitstaff has always been outstanding. Dining room is peaceful and relaxing for us weary parents taking advantage of some couples... More

Real Mexican food. The tastes of Mexico come thru every dish. The decor takes you to the village. The staff is wonderful. They make you feel like you are home. A mush stop in Astoria Oregon.

This is a fun place to come for the decor, if nothing else. We came on a Saturday night to found a mostly empty cafe with a very friendly server. The best item I had all night was the jalapeño dressing with the green salad and the fish tacos. The chips are home made and were fresh and crunchy. The... More

As one reviewer pointed out the only thing Latin about this place are the beer signs in the window. Bathroom was filthy, paper on the floor, toilet seat well pissed on, door lock broken, and etcetera. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like! But wait.... hair in my food.. I guess I don't really need to know what... More

Delicious, most flavorful and authentic Mexican food! The service is always superb! We moved away a number of years ago and have yet to find a restaurant that lives up to the standards of the Rio Cafe's food. We always stop when we are back in town. The Enchiladas Nayaritas are a special treat and there will always be a... More

We were looking forward to couples night with great Mexican food. This was our 2nd visit here. The first was delectable. Unfortunately, not this time... Chips were stale, hard enough to hurt my teeth when biting them. After one I was done. Our food was ok but nothing to give praise about. I am hoping third time will be better.... More

Great lunch on a rainy afternoon. Wonderful reception and attention from the waitress whom I assume is an owner. This is a down-home rustic out-of-the-way type of restaurant that I'm always delighted to find. Food was hot, delicious and plentiful. Loved the margaritas!

I really want to reward The Rio with more stars, I really do. The owner is so sweet and friendly, and our experiences with her have been nothing short of great. Fresh, flavourful food that transcends the typical Americanized Mexican Menus. How cool that the Rio is owned by Irish folks (including the building) !! Being from Ireland myself makes... More

Delicious, El Salvadorean style Mexican food...always fresh and good. Julie is sweet and kind, so I really don't understand the nasty comments. It is a small, cheery, and friendly spot. Do not expect chain style, "American Mexican" food...the Rio is way better than that! Our favorite place for Mexican food on the North coast.
