I checked out this place online before heading to Astoria, and it looked like a great place to stop for lunch or to pick up breakfast. Everything was organic, vegetarian, ugh! I respect the earth, I like trees, I recycle, and I don't use plastic bags any more, but this place was SO not my cup of tea. We had... more

I've lived in astoria and the surrounding area for 20yrs, and I am very familiar with our local restaurants and the food they serve (and the quality)! The Blue Scorcher only uses the finest organic ingredients. I love the food and always feel healthy and satisfied when leaving. When people comment that it is "overpriced" I have to ask where... more

My girlfriend and I ate here for lunch and ended up spending 30 bucks for a meal that didn't fill us up at all. My girlfriend ordered a "salad" and none of the ingredients were very fresh. I had a grilled cheese sandwich that was way overpriced. I could make twenty grilled cheeses at home for the price the BS... more

I've lived in Astoria for almost 10 years and love our "food scene" - lots of good choices and a good variety for a town this size. However, I'm totally shocked to see the Blue Scorcher ranked at #2 on Trip Advisor. You couldn't pay me to go back there at this point. I'm not one to write a place... more

The Blue Scorcher is as advertised – local, seasonal and organic. A good place for lunch, a snack, or some great looking bread and pastries to go – whether you live here or are just passing through. The café is open and airy with high wood beamed ceilings and colorful brightly painted walls, wooden tables and a slightly hippy vibe.... more

This place has really high quality baked goods, healthy delicious meals, and relaxed arty atmosphere. They also do really creative themed dinners a few times a year. Those are brilliant. But if you are thinking of going, you should go for this reason--they have this mixer that you must see. It is so big. I believe it is the spawning... more

The Blue Scorcher is an eclectic little bakery and cafe with the most incredible breads and foods. I love their commitment to buying from local growers as much as possible. We are not big bread eaters and love our meat, but we enjoy everything there. You won't find meat on the menu but the breads are great and their fritattas... more

First may I say that I am not vegan. I am happy for those who are. They may be on to something. I see the "scorcher" as an excellent bakery and a fun place to eat. They really do make great bread and many other things that are unique and wholesome. Be sure to try their pizza. Very good. The... more
