I'll just start by talking about the food. We ordered a half order of Halibut & Chips and the Beef Cornish Pasty. The Halibut was very good but for almost $10 we got 2 not very large pieces of fish, some fries that were hot, and coleslaw that was tasty and not too creamy. For about the same price we... more

Good and English food usually don't go together for me. But at the Ship Inn, you can get the best fried fish you will ever have. This is one of the best places to get halibut fish and chips. You get a good portion of fried halibut, steak fries and cole slaw and a piece of bread. They also serve... more

Stopped here for a late lunch because it was next to the smoked fish place. Mistake 1 was not going with someplace I knew was good. The halibut fish and chips arrived cold. Sent it back and all they did was re-dunk it in the fryer so now it was hot but overcooked and greasy enough to pool oil! Nasty.... more

I have eaten at the Ship Inn more than 12 times over the years and I now live in Honolulu. Four of us drove from Portland to have a early (Sunday September 13th around 2pm) diner at wow the experience was not good. No wait time until we were seated, not busy but waited 10 minutes to even see a... more

The bartender was excellent. The cook was excellent. When the fact that the toilet in the women's bathroom was not working and the tank wasn't filling up and inorder to flush the toilet a personhad to take the lid off and manually flush the toilet the owner, who denied at first being the owner, didn't care. The toilet probably hadn't... more

I love coming here. The English pub atmosphere is charming. The servers are always attentive and friendly. Now, I don't eat seafood, so I can't comment on that, but the people I'm with do seem to enjoy the fish and chips! I love the vegetarian sandwich or the Cobb salad. My son is delighted that they serve PBJ sandwiches! So... more

I stumbled into Ship Inn years ago and tried their halibut fish & chips. It was, and still is, the best fish & chips I have ever tasted. Big, juicy, and tender pieces of halibut! Whenever I am in the area I make sure to stop by. I read some other reviews and they complain about the food being deep... more

Stumbled on to the Ship Inn today while exploring Astoria. It's very casual, comfortable, the food was excellent, service good, and a spectacular view of the Columbia River. The cost was a bit more than i expected, but probably normal considering the location. Well worth trying if you are in Astoria, more

I have been coming here for my whole life (27 years) and I love the squid. I have never had squid like this before it is usually in the yucky cicles with tenticles. These are squid steaks that are cut into strips and fried. YUMMO! My hubby and I can eat there with tip for 25 bucks. The half order... more

I didn't ever appreciate real English battered cod before I ate here. I have eaten here several times, however, my last visit sealed my love for their food. Very simple in terms of menu diversity, however the fish is excellent and the batter actually has flavor! Add malt vinegar, a dark beer, a great view of the bay and my... more
