The staff is very pleasant and friendly. Fish and chips were decent but nothing special. Clam chowder tasted good. Cole slaw was excellent. Fries over-salted. Water was fishy smelling and a bit oily. more

Ordered the Ciapinno style dish for 2 with half a dungeness crap as the finishing touch (we really like crab!) The crab had a very strong ammonia taste and odor which suggested that it was rotten. The staff was very nice in handling it and suggested that they would remake the dish with crab pieces. Well when the dish came... more

My husband and are chose Gunderson's for dinner during our first night in Astoria. It was a Wednesday. We stayed at the Cannery Pier Hotel (excellent) and they made reservations at the restaurant for us. We were immediately greeted upon entering the restaurant by our friendly waitress. She sat us at a window with the best view of the Columbia... more

We enjoyed one of the best meals we've ever had at Gunderson's Cannery Cafe. I am shocked at all the negative comments from last year. I will admit it is a little pricey, but every other restaurant we ate at on the coast was the same. Soup & salad is now ala carte--my husband had clam chowder that had large... more

Having just read previous reviews, I'm slightly surprised by the negative reactions to this restaurant. We were more than satisfied with the experience, the service was a touch slow, but that was because the place was packed, and our server was extremely apologetic and made sure that we weren't ignored at any time. The food was simple but excellent -... more

Should have listened to my mom. She highly recommended that we stop at the Bow Picker on our way out of town for their AWESOME fish and chips but that is all they serve. So traveling with a 4 year old who is a very picky eater, we opted for a restaurant that would have more than one option. The... more

We walked in and were passed by several times without a greeting or even a nod in our direction. Once seated, we had to wait ten minutes just get some water, and we were thirsty campers. I ordered tea, which came with no teaspoon to stir with! I had to ask for a spoon, and the one that came was... more
