My husband and are chose Gunderson's for dinner during our first night in Astoria. It was a Wednesday. We stayed at the Cannery Pier Hotel (excellent) and they made reservations at the restaurant for us. We were immediately greeted upon entering the restaurant by our friendly waitress. She sat us at a window with the best view of the Columbia... more

We enjoyed one of the best meals we've ever had at Gunderson's Cannery Cafe. I am shocked at all the negative comments from last year. I will admit it is a little pricey, but every other restaurant we ate at on the coast was the same. Soup & salad is now ala carte--my husband had clam chowder that had large... more

Having just read previous reviews, I'm slightly surprised by the negative reactions to this restaurant. We were more than satisfied with the experience, the service was a touch slow, but that was because the place was packed, and our server was extremely apologetic and made sure that we weren't ignored at any time. The food was simple but excellent -... more

Should have listened to my mom. She highly recommended that we stop at the Bow Picker on our way out of town for their AWESOME fish and chips but that is all they serve. So traveling with a 4 year old who is a very picky eater, we opted for a restaurant that would have more than one option. The... more

We walked in and were passed by several times without a greeting or even a nod in our direction. Once seated, we had to wait ten minutes just get some water, and we were thirsty campers. I ordered tea, which came with no teaspoon to stir with! I had to ask for a spoon, and the one that came was... more

We are from the Astoria area and see this restaurant daily, and have been here once before in the summer, but this time we were extremely disappointed. Boasting of a chef, there was no one in the kitchen that we could see or hear. The waitress was the only person in the whole place. We were given a new winter... more

The place was charming, great location, nice staff. However, the chowder tasted like a bland potato soup. The crab melt was more like a onion melt with too much overcooked cheese. more
