where else would you eat

its small, the food is great, the people who run it are warm and inviting. Its not the ritz, pretty down-home. We love the food and we always eat here when we are in town, it fits our style - think small cafe run by ex food-coop hippies who turned into a grunge band. Emphasis is on creative cooking... read more

We have been going to the Columbian Cafe for years. The food is always great and the prices are very reasonable. This is a place that draws locals and foodies. Each dish is cooked to order so the service is not speedy. If you want slick tourist glitz, the Columbian Cafe is not for you. If you enjoy a funky... More

We went in upon reading the exceptional reviews online. It is a very quaint, oldish, unkempt place. For travelers like myself, it was a promise of a greasy homemade breakfast to soother the tired body. We sat in a little booth towards the back (tiny place, again) - and were hit with the stench of urine from the bathroom -... More

A sort of hard to review eatery, because it is mostly the experience of this old and well worn space that seems to hold the vibe of Astoria's past. The food prepared in thick iron pans just behind the lunch counter is hardy and satisfying. The jellies served with toast was a standout at breakfast. The coffee was old school... More

I so wanted to like this place; I love diners and dives. This place fell short IMO. We waited exactly 74 minutes for 3 breakfast dishes. Food tasted fine but definitely not 74 minutes worth of fine. There were only a total of six people in the establishment plus 3 people sitting outside so I don't know why it took... More

This place got high reviews but I'm not sure why. I ordered the chorizo scramble and it was not the kind of chorizo that I like, this was that mealy kind that comes out of a casing and then just dissolves. It was ok, but not fantastic. My husband had the Chili Rellano "like" burrito and it needed more cheese... More

What a wonderful stop for lunch. This is a tiny restaurant that has been in Astoria for decades, and it was evident the cook and servers like working there. When our drinks were served, the server brought us excellent toasted bread. Fresh iced tea (not instant or "fountain"). We had crepes because so few places serve them. I had apple... More

This place is awesome, good cocktails carb loading on yummy bread and jelly. The main courses are fantastic!! Just remember it is small only 3 booths, bar seating and CASH only. A must go while in Astoria Oregon

My husband and I went to Astoria for the weekend and stumbled upon this fantastic joint! We went both days for breakfast. Sit at the bar and watch Kyle the chef do his magic at the grill. All food is fresh and chopped/grated to order. Kyle and Tonya were very friendly. Don't miss!

My friends and I visited the Columbian Cafe for breakfast and sat at the counter. We had a front-row view of the chef at work, and this helped pass the time. I'm not going to sugar-coat, it was a long wait for our food. This is not the place to go if you're in a hurry because the kitchen seems... More
