This is our go to place for large portions and tasty food....

....and it never disappoints. Yes there are other Mexican places in town and some are a cut above, but their prices certainly reflect that. And yes Jalisco is a chain, but their food (in our experience over 12 years here) is consistant. We've never had a bad dish, though some are better than... read more

Arrived in Astoria late on the Monday night. Started looking for a please for dinner and a lot of places already closed at 8:00pm. We both enjoy Mexican food but did not have high expectations. Were we in for a pleasant surprise!! My husband ordered the chicken fajita which came hot and spicy to the table. I ordered the taco... More

We had a taste for Mexican and the staff at our hotel said this is their favorite Mexican restaurant in Astoria. We have no basis for comparison. Maybe this is as good as it gets in Astoria. The food was a little better than your typical American version of Mexican. The portions were generous and the prices were fair. The... More

Perhaps it's because I'm from Arizona and have become accustomed to GREAT Mexican food that I found the food to be less than average at the Plaza Jalisco. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce and the chips were stale. My main course-bland! The service was average. Being the only ones in the place on a Monday at lunch time probably... More

Vegetarian selections as well as standards. Great service, personable and friendly, overall very nice lunch experience. But I have to say what stood out was the guacamole. Yep, it's simple, nothing fancy, and honestly, it's the best I've ever had, hands down.

We came in with a part of 6. The service was extremely slow. Took forever to get our order in. One of our party was skipped over twice. Took a while to check out. And we were the only people in the place. The food was ok. The meat was seasoned with too much pepper. They just need to be... More

We arrived between 8:15 and 8:30 after a full day of touring. I ordered chile verde and my wife ordered taquitos. Both were served in dishes too hot to touch with food too hot to eat. Everything looked like it was out of the microwave. The chicken at the ends of the taquitos was burnt and the chile verde was... More

Pleasant decor, good location, good help and great food make this a worthwhile stop. Recommend? Yes. Return? Again and again.

The food here was delicious and pretty close to authentic. The service however was pretty bad. Staff were all pretty rude and overall seemed as if they were unhappy. Our drinks were never refilled nor did they even offer and it took quite a bit after we were finished eating to get our check. If you don't mind bad service... More

The food we had was good, not the real authentic Mexican food but the kind most American's like. The service was not so good. Our waiter asked if we wanted more chips and my husband said yes so he took our basket and never returned with more chips. I asked for a whole bean and rice salad and I got... More
