We had a marvelous time as amateur photographers shooting sunset on the deck of the American Cafe. The bridges in Jacksonville are a delight as well as the fountains and architecture. The food was delightful as the setting sun in our city trip.

Along with Hooters, this is the only restaurant left from the inaugural shops and restaurants when the Jacksonville Landing opened in the 1980s. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated (or seemingly repaired) since then. Used to be fresh, now it is tired and run down.

was delicious and good service. great view of downtown and the water line is gorgeous. Also did not have to wait long in line on a busy weekend such as FL/GA since this spot is well placed above hooters in the landing

I used to brag on this place a few years back... told everyone I never had a bad meal here because it was true. Things have gone downhill since. My review from last year is a big part of the problem, & I see it is for many others too. Things take too long to happen in here for how... More

actually we stopped here to eat the menu looked great but a server never made it to the table and we sat there for like a half an hour. There were a lot of empty tables so that made it more odd that they were so busy?

The staff was very dressed down (looked like they just rolled out of bed), one even in cut off shorts (that were not flattering). Food was just ok. Long wait to get food, then to go containers, then check and they were not taht busy. I will not return to American Cafe!

Ate here for a lunch, which was supposed to be a fairly quick meal, but due to computers being down it wound up taking quite some time. Our server did not smile once the entire time. I had fish and chips, and the best way to describe it was fried mush. It was literally as if the fish had been... More

Our party of six adults and two children stopped in on a Sunday evening for a light dinner. The restaurant was pretty empty at 6:00. The hostess gave us our choice of seating, indoors or out. We choose inside. The menu had quite a few selections. All the food, with one exception, was good. Between the group of us, we... More

We had good table service. The food was also a surprise..very good, fresh catch sandwich. Portions are quite large. Sharing might be an option. Clean and friendly!

I think I was not supposed to eat in a nice restaurant during the jazz fest - see review of benny's for where I ended up. Usually the American Cafe is my favorite place, & I have never had a bad meal there. In the past, the service has been thoughtful & timely as well. I think I walked into... More
