If you want the best grouper sandwich on earth go to Chowder Teds. I have had the Grouper Sandwich fried and blackened. I believe the blackened grouper is the best. You get a huge piece of grouper fish on a fresh bun with jalapeño slaw which on its own is awesome. You also get all the sides. Just get it... More

I hesitate to write a review (again) because it's increasingly difficult to get into this place for their 'hole in the wall' delights. A limited menu, that's wrapped around the most interesting pot of 'chowder' devised by "Ted," is very good from top to bottom. How do I know you ask? Because I or my spouse have tried it all... More

Ted's blackened Mahi lunch special is amazing! The service is great and the atmosphere is what you would expect for a cash only fish camp. The only problem is that space is limited so get there early if you don't want to wait for a table.

A short menu of great selections. The daily 'catch' is always spectacular, but Ted's 'Swamp Burger' rivals the best in burger in Jacksonville.

This restaurant/shanty is off the beaten path, in the shadows of the power plant. The chowder is worth the visit, if nothing else. It is served in an old saucepan, which adds to the feel of this restaurant. Big chunks of onions, potatoes, tomato's, fish, crawfish, clams, and green olives...yes, I said green olives, they are great! We got there... More

This little shack in the middle of nowhere has some of the best food in Jacksonville. We had lunch here today and I truly enjoyed the blackened mahi sandwich and onion rings. Both were delicious. In the past I've had their burgers and found them excellent as well. I haven't personally had their chowder but my companions say it is... More

This is not your mama's New England clam chowder. This is more of a Manhattan style seafood stew. Thick, chunky, full of vegetables and seafood with just the right amount of spice. There are several local beers on tap.The place is tiny. Expect to wait for a table. The service is as good as the food.

I was very skeptical because my husband picked this place, and boy, what a dive (but I like that kind of thing). I also wasn't in the mood for fried food, which is most of the menu, so I tried the blackened mahi mahi, and I must say, it was excellent. Even better, it was $12!!!! I'd pay double that... More

Most delicious red chowder I've had in a long time! We call it manhattan chowder and it doesn't have olives - this was a great place! We had calamari, 1lb of peel and eat shrimp, and 2 1/2 pots of chowder. The freshest and tastiest peel and eat I've had since Miami beach! Plus the whole thing was $29 with... More
