Great Beer; Food OK

We reviewed the beer list at the German Schnitzel Haus (GSH, as they abbreviate it on their menu) and found many German beers on draft, offering pilsners, wheats, and darks. That is not easy to find in Jacksonville. The food offerings as well looked like it came off a menu in Germany, with many of... read more

Went for lunch recently and the food has really gone down hill. It was prepared at another time and just re-heated. The bratwurst was disgusting and the sauerkraut tasted like it was out of a can. I can no longer recommend the place unless you're just going for the bar. Cannot believe a professional chef would let that cr_p leave... More

We've been eating here for a long time. We have lived and eaten in Germany on and off for many years and always found the food here to be about as close to the real thing as one could get in the U.S. The move to the new location was great from a size standpoint, but they lost the brick... More

Jacksonville does not have a lot of German restaurants, but if you do want to partake of some traditional German cooking this is the place to visit. Myself and two friends decided to have lunch here (first time) and we were more than pleased with our meals. We split an appetizer sampler of sausages which were very good and more... More

We visited January 24. Food was delicious!! It was not the fake, pretend German food -- it is real German recipes. We had many menu items: liver wurst, stroganoff, the bratwurst sampler plate, schnitzel, fried bologna, spaetzle, potato cakes, dessert to die for. Most exciting was German beer on draft and Nurnburger sausages - for real. Wish we lived in... More

I took my family here and we all loved it. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was wonderful! I had the Sauerbraten, very tasty. I highly recommend giving it a try.

I am hesitant to give high praise, yet enjoyed the upscale German decor. Most German places are rough, loud, and typically "Oktoberfest" decor (with beer steins). This was very modern with a beautiful bar and colorful art hanging. We made a 7:30 reservation and arrived 8 minutes early. We walked in to an empty foyer and were immediately told "it... More

Ate here based on a recommendation from a fellow Rv'er. Got there at 5;30 and we were seated immediately. Waiter was quick, attentive and food was great. Bread appetizer was great, hot and a great spread to go with it. Salads were fresh and food was delivered steaming hot. Would recommend this place.

Beer was good. Food was terrible. I got the Schnitzel Haus platter. It really sucked. Tasted like they made the meatball and beef role-up last week and warmed it up. Very pricey for the slop they served. Will never go back!!
