Went to the Oar to have a nice summer lunch with my wife. Plenty of tables were available but we were not seated because we were only two people and the available tables looked like they were set for four. We were told it would be up to twenty minutes before something suitable opened up. Never going back to that... More

We went to the Oar on. Saturday night around 6 PM. We waited about an hour but it was a perfect summer night so time wasn't a problem. We had drinks and enjoyed the view and friendly wait staff. There are 2 bars so we had no wait. They even had a hotdog cart if you needed a quick bite... More

I found this marina-side restaurant to be a hidden gem. The dockside atmosphere is fabulous and the restaurant is nicely decorated and bright. We had a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon as a band was setting up for some 60's music. The service was great, attentive but not intrusive. We really enjoyed the food. Moist, fresh broiled salmon with... More

Great location right on the canal. Loud fun bar scene next to an enchanting restaurant with a great view of the sunset. Excellent presentation and tasty meals. Service was impeccable. I would have given a five rating but meal was around $30 an entree.

I met an old college buddy for dinner after enjoying the ferry ride over to Watch Hill on Fire Island. The deck overlooking the marina, the guitarist playing James Taylor songs over by the bar so we could hear it but still carry on a conversation at our table, and an excellent burger made it a very enjoyable experience.

We were 2 couples. We had not been there in a while, but decided on the spur of the moment to try it. Friday 5pm, the parking lot was jammed, I was sure we would have a wait. No so, we got our choice of a table, either inside or out. We decided to eat outside, take in the view... More

We have frequented The Oar often, but hadn't been there for over a year. We decided to go for lunch today; chose a lovely table outside and had a delicious meal. We had originally planned to have a bowl of their very tasty bisque, but since I have been hankering for a lobster roll, we both ordered it. It is... More

On a bright and sunny day, sitting outside overlooking the Patchogue River, lunch is wonderful and plentiful. The dockside atmosphere is great and the fish tacos are wonderful. I would go back again and again!

The Oar has been a restaurant destination of locals for ever. It is close to impossible to get a table in the Spring and Summer on the weekends without a reservation made at least a week in advance. We eat at this restaurant often and stop at the bar frequently. This is a lively fun place on the water with... More

I have been here many times. The dockside atmosphere is very nice. Food is good, and you MUST try the "salt and vinegar wings"...
