Good selection - good food

We spent the day at the FDR home and were looking for something different. We found it. The menu selection was large and varied. My wife and I both had breakfast for dinner. Her pancakes were good. My red velvet pancakes were awesome. No doubt anyone would be able to find something good here.

We were driving through Hyde Park on our way home after visiting the Vanderbilt Estate and stopped in for a late lunch. Plenty of parking and easy to access. Great classic diner decor. The restaurant is very well maintained and very clean. We were seated immediately and service was genuinely friendly and efficient without feeling rushed. Food: very good! The... More

We had lunch one day and dinner a second day while touring Hyde Park. The Eveready is a large diner, with tremendous selections. There's a good beer list, a limited wine line, and a cocktail list. For dinner my wife had the london broil--large portion, and I had the pork chops--two large juicy chops. I had the soup as a... More

We had a very good meal and great service at this diner. All of the items ordered tasted great and the portions were fairly large. I have been to diners that are spectacular from Triple D and this was wasn't on that level, but it was still a great meal leading to the 4 stars. I recommend the omelettes and... More

Typical diner with typical diner food, prices, atmosphere. I had researched this place the day before a day trip to the area but then decided we would go to the CIA cafe. Well, the CIA was closed for summer vacation (their website was not quiiiiite updated) and, quite disappointed, we went back to Choice #2. Not a bad choice by... More

After touring Springwood, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt's family home, we stopped in here for lunch. It's a real, old-fashioned shiny diner with booths, neon signs, and a jukebox. The AC was lovely and cool and we were very grateful for that. It was midday and a scorcher! The waitress was friendly and extremely helpful as the menu is quite large.... More

We went here for diner after a day of travel and tour at the FDR home. It has an accessible entrance and plenty of seating. We were seated when we came in and the wait staff was efficient and quick. One of our party was perin the mood for an omelet and the veggie omelet was tasty. The chicken souvlaki... More

When we saw how many cars were in the parking lot, we were expecting a wait for a table. Lots of tables and wait staff meant no waiting! Lots of choices on the menu too and we really enjoyed what we had. My husband's prime rib dinner special was only $20 and was one of the best beef dinners my... More

A separate menu of daily specials included Mama's Roast, pot roast and gravy, at a higher price than the same meal on the regular menu. Our waitress confirmed they were the same item and said she didn't understand the pricing either. I ordered the Focaccia Burger, rare. It was neither rare nor served on Focaccia. Even though this is baked... More

We were at the FDR Museum and asked for recommendations for a restaurant for lunch. Although we were told that they couldn't make a recommendation but could give us several, I stood there long enough to know that Eveready was repeated quite often, so we gave it a shot! Perfect place for lunch; accommodating and pleasant staff and the food... More
