Joseph's Steakhouse is located next to Val-Kill. Eleanor Roosevelt's National Site in Historic Hyde Park. Joseph Steakhouse was once part of Val-Kill and was called Val-Kill Station. Val-Kill Station from 1933 to 1949 servered as a Tea Room restaurant serving a Tea Luncheon to Royal families & travlers visting the Roosevelts. Besides our great steaks and seafood, Joseph Steakhouse still continues the tea luncheon tradition by reservation only in the tea room. Available daily for Groups of 25 or more.

A Kitschy Experience, but, Worth It!

We were visiting the Hyde Park area for a few days of relaxation and a visit to the FDR library and home. We read online that Joseph's was one of the better regional choices for dinner. The restaurant's ambiance is a just bit understated (eg. quite plain) in decor, but clean and welcoming. The... read more

I checked TripAdvisor in the weeks prior to our quick jaunt to Hyde Park. So much food, so little time. Glad we chose Joseph's! Cold and miserable as it was that April 7th evening,Joseph's was quick to up the endorphine level. Nothing disappoints here... just don't expect fancy. Delicious, I promise.

After visiting FDR's home, we went here to celebrate my husband's birthday. The service, food, and wine list were excellent. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this dining experience. It was first rate and marked the beginning of a very nice week-end trip. We met the owner and after talking with him, i came to realize that it was no surprise the food and service was so good! It does have the pomp and so forth, but the atmosphere is... More

We were in Hyde Park visiting the FDR library this week and found Joseph's Steakhouse on Trip Advisor. Arriving before six on a Thursday, we almost had the place to ourselves. Michael our waiter couldn't have been more helpful and we enjoyed our steak, particularly the porterhouse for two. Everything was first rate (the Sinatra on Sirius included), and the... More

Who could ask for more than: the Sirius XM feed of Frank Sinatra; the professional waitstaff with ties, white shirts, and vests; and the ambiance of the 20th Century, along with a great menu selection, albeit somewhat expensive. Having seen the overwhelming positive reviews of Joseph's Steakhouse, it was a no brainer to leave Rt 9 and head inland to... More

My wife and I went to Joseph's for our anniversary. This was our first time eating here and we were not disappointed. The dry aged 22oz. bone in cowboy ribeye was perfect. (Every steakhouse I go to messes up a medium steak but, these guys nailed it.) The steak barley soup by itself is worth eating here. My wife had... More
