This restaurant I found thanks to Trip Advisor. We had Filet Mignon and T-Bone steak, done to perfection, the salad dressing FANTASTIC. The staff were so sweet, never felt rushed. The most fantastic Frank Sinatra music (and other singers) playing the entire time, wonderful dinner. I will definitely go back.

We have been meaning to try this steakhouse for a while and with all the good reviews we were disappointed. There was only one waiter the night we went, no one else to help him out. Not sure if this is normal or not. This waiter worked hard but his rushing around did not make for a pleasant experience. An... More

We walked into this little steakhouse late one Thursday night. The place was nearly empty but the quiet conversation of the few patrons there was hushed and congenial, perfectly blending with the rich but understated atmosphere. Our server/ bartender, Michael, greeted us warmly and led us to a lovely table by the window. He gave us his recommendations for food... More

After touring historic sites like the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt mansions, the chain restaurants of Hyde Park didn't seem appropriate. Joseph's, though not much to look at, brought sophistication in spades, from our waiter's Culinary Institute training to the surprising lobster and fig-based apps. The steaks were fantastic! We plan to share with friends and visit again.

We went to Hyde Park to visit the FDR Library and I read about this place online. The town of Hyde Park looks old and run down and the exterior of Joseph's restaurant is no exception. But things change when you go inside. The dining area was very nice and food was great. My wife and I had the burger... More

We had no intention of stopping at a steakhouse on our vacation East, but when we learned that the building was part of the Val-Kill Industries started by Eleanor Roosevelt, we were more interested in the cobbled together buildings that make up Joseph's. When someone on the tour of Val-Kill suggested we eat there, it was a done deal, and... More

Micheal took excellent care of us from the moment we made the reservation through OpenTable. He called my cellphone to confirm. We started with the Sugarwash Moonshine, a cocktail made of St. Germain and local spirits. The steaks were done to perfection and very slightly seasoned so you could really taste the quality of the meat. The picniclike decor is... More

I am drawn to the Poughkeepsie, n.y. often visiting my family. While there we have had time to circle the surrounding areas. Joseph's Steakhouse in Hyde Park has been on three separate occasions a delightful experience for tea, lunch, and wine and dinner. Owner run giving everything a special flare. Wait staff is professional and food superb. Salads, steaks, burgers..... More

I went to Joseph's, with low expectations, the outside was a little off putting, and (since it was late on a Wednesday night), not very crowded. I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality food and service they gave. Our waiter was very kind and was very chatty, but in an engaged passionate kind of way, not in the annoying... More

We originally found this restaurant through restaurant week and ever since then we have been in love. To begin to try and describe all of the great attributes that it has would take days. The food is second to none and is always prepared just to our liking. The steak is absolutely amazing. I don't like to eat steak out... More
