Relatively inexpensive and pretty good food

We came here for a late lunch, about 3 p.m. and unfortunately they were out of my original choice. Since we had been in line with some students at the school, they recommended the macaroni and cheese as a substitute, which was actually pretty good. Not too heavy. While we didn't have any of the deserts they looked fabulous.

Salads, Sandwiches and pastries from the top of the cream chefs. Mouth watery display, delicious treats and variety to choose from. You line up like at Starbucks but quick service, after you pick from a variety of exquisite choices and pay for, you sit down on a well appointed location and shortly after you are served by student staff, with... One of several restaurants at the CIA on campus, with the students engaged in the cooking and serving of such lovely food and drinks. This school is another gem in the Hyde Park area, almost hidden among the run down and abandoned buildings and old homes left in the city, or town as it was. Granted, this area has seen... More

Nice assortment of items to choose from.... everything from bagels to sweets to salads. Reasonably priced.

If I lived in the area, I would eat here every day. Plenty of delicious options to satisfy my husband, two girls and me. The baked goods are amazing as are the lunch entrees. We particularly enjoyed the grilled vegetable sandwich, the corn chowder and the quiche. Kid-friendly options include Mac and cheese, fries, etc. Highly recommend.

We were in the area visiting colleges. We didn't have time to eat at the more formal places at CIA and so came here. The line moves fast and it's worth it. The food is so fresh and delicious and beautiful.

Although I had visited The Culinary Institue of America restaurants, this was my first lunch at the popular Apple Pie Bakery. The staff was super accommodating, which was especially appreciated since my lunch companion has a (not obvious) physical disability. We were seated quickly. The service was friendly but not intrusive. We enjoyed discussing the future with the charming student... More

We stopped by this bakery café after having lunch at the Bocuse restaurant - both located at the Culinary Institute of America, NY. We picked up some baked good for the road and they were delicious. If this is any indication, I would suspect the lunch items they serve at the café would be a delight as well.

You can stop in here and buy fresh breads of all kinds, as well as unbelievable pastries, cookies, candies, etc. There is so much to choose from. Also, this is a great place to buy a hostess gift since they also sell candies, jams, teas, and other great gift ideas.

I would make sure not to miss the Apple pie bakery if you visit the CIA. The pastry selection is varied and expertly prepared. The service as throughout the CIA is a bit awkward but you don't expect much more from a cafe.
