I was disappointed, expected more. The food is good, don't get me wrong but not exceptional in any way at all. I wish I had ordered traditional Italian dishes as the friends I was with who ordered traditional food really enjoyed. The arugula salad had a dressing with very peculiar almost chemical aftertaste, which mellowed into exceptional but the in... More

We enjoy dining at Caterina very much. The food and service are always excellent, as is everything at the CIA.

We're reputed to be discriminating diners and Italian food devotees. Our experience for lunch in September was in every way excellent, and the total opposite of the "disappointed" reviews. Perhaps they were looking for simple Olive Garden-type fare, rather than the eclectic and somewhat out-of-the-ordinary, but not outrageously so, palate-pleasing treatments from salads to appetizers to entrees. The servers were... More

The Culinary Institute of America boasts several restaurants. DeMedici is the Italian themed restaurant, sponsored by the Colavita company. The building is beautiful: a Tuscan style villa amid formal gardens. It is a treat for the eyes in every way, inside and out. The menu, however, does not live up to the surroundings. We looked forward to a special occasion... More

After hearing so much about the CIA, we were so disappointed in our visit. We traveled for 2 hours and left hungry and frustrated. The menu selections were poor and lacked flavor and variety. The emphasis was on the unusual and the menu did not include a variety of delicious Italian offerings. The radicchio salad was awful and the tiramisu... More

After taking the tour of the CIA and hearing about the chef training program we were looking forward to dinning in what is the students final class assignment before graduating. How there can be so many great CIA trained chefs and tonights terrible meal and terrible service experience just don't reconcile. The tour of the school was excellent, but I... More

We have had fantastic meals and not so good meals at the Culinary Restaurants. Unfortunately, this was one of those not so good meal experiences. The host was excellent when seating us but the waitress left a lot to be desired. The waitress was very difficult to hear and they did not mention the Hudson Valley Restaurant week menu. The... In the same building as the Ristorante Caterina de'Medici there is the no reservation necessary (but be prepared for a wait!) restaurant called Il Forno. We had the Arugula with sliced pears w/Grana Padano cheese and lemon vinaigrette and also the Proscuitto with mozzarella toasted foccacia, olives, chutney (like an India relish) and pepperoncini. We were also served an Italian... More

This Italian restaurant is part of the Culinary Institute of America and worth the visit. The food is prepared by the students and also served by students. Although my server nervous, he did a wonderful job. A must visit if in the area.

Six of us enjoyed dinner here & all liked the food. Outstanding items were Berkshire roast pork, seared radicchio, & chocolate cake with pear & blueberry. Whichever students were cooking in the kitchen did an outstanding job. Service was less stellar. Though friendly, wait staff was not as attentive as one might like. Still, they are students, and on a... More
