A good selection on the menu and both food and service were pleasing. This building is quite historic in it's own right and has extensive battle scars left from the Battle of Gettysburg.

My wife and I visited the Farnsworth House for dinner last Saturday as a treat for her after all the cooking over Thanksgiving. From the rear parking lot we passed through the Sweney Tavern which was bright, packed and noisy. By contrast the Main Dining Room was dimly lit, almost empty and very quiet. We decided we would enjoy a... More

Contrary to reviews, I loved the meal, although I ordered the Game Pie and not the other entries. Game Pie is a Pot Pie with Venison, Pigeon, Lamb, Beef and Turkey. The place was crowded for Remembrance Day Eve but we were seated by the enjoyable hostess in 10 minutes. Our waitress was great and we ordered a bottle of... More

Loved the picked watermelon rind, spoon bread, salads and soups were wondeful. My vegetables on pasta was boring, the half chicken was dry, the pot pie was not as good a Bob Evans and the fish lacked flavor. The Waitress was the best in Gettysburg. We were spooked when the bathroom door moved and no one was on the other... More

we went to one place to eat and everyone was so rude, we ended up here. Best choice all day! We had the sweet bread to start and it was amazing, the apple butter was great. I also had a bowl of the potato bacon soup I wish I could of brought some home with me. The open face roast... More

We added another night because we heard spirit gun shot 58 caliber, and spirits reacting to it by running in hallway and slamming doors! There were other guests and only two other people heard it. All agreed no one left rooms that night. Our eyeglasses were hidden too during first night. Too much to tell. We enjoyed our stay. B... More

Great location and old time tavern atmosphere. Food is always great! I go here every time I am in Gettysburg. The Potatoes soup is the best! Take the time to go thru their store as well.

The 11:00p Ghost Walks and Mourning Theater visit for us was absolutely ridiculous and completely unentertaining, we were not expecting to see ghosts, but we thought it would at least be fun. The stories were about other performances in the past given by the two tour guides at the Farnsworth House and the goofy patrons they had in their groups,... More

The host took 20 minutes to seat us, even though there were 3 two-tops available throughout our whole meal. Just speaks to organization. The colonial garb on employees was stupid, the main dining room felt stale. The servers were great!
