The food was lousy. My daughter in law had a chicken sandwich on restaurant white bread with 12 french fries for 9.50. The hostess was impatient and rude!!!!! We booked 2 ghost tours. That totaled 80.00 for the 4 of us. They had 58 people smashed in the cellar, 3 stood. The attice tour they smashed 28 up there and... more

Food was excellent, service superb. Our server, Shannon, was so well-informed on the history of Gettysburg, gave us a mini-tour of the restaurant, fascinating. So much to look at if you're into history. Inside are oil paintings, artifacts, period pieces galore, nothing modern. Outside, over a hundred bullets pierced the brick wall during the civil war. Beautiful courtyard. Prices modest... more

Stopped by the Tavern in the back, not the dining room. Staff seemed rushed, bartender lost, instant mashed potatoes?!?! Servers complaining openly, drink orders a mess, everyone seemed frazzled, not a comfortable feeling. Nicely decorated, although a little too bright and the ceiling fans were cranked high on a cold rainy night. more

The Farnsworth House is an historic building in Downtown Gettysburg. The servers are in period costume and friendly, but the food was not the best. My husband ordered chicken pot pie, and it was mostly gravy and noodles. Our friend orded stuffed flounder and said it tasted like a frozen entree, similar to what you get in the frozen food... more

The Farnsworth House Restaurant has poor food, poor service and poor management. The owners who think too highly of themselves have no idea how to run a restaurant. It's too bad since the building is very nice inside. In desprate need of new owners. Do not recommend. more

I have gone to the Farnworth House several times as my wife has had a sentimental attachment to the place (no more thankfully--she references it in her review of the Dobbin House). I have constantly found the Farnsworth House overpriced, staffed by rude, snooty people and serving up a boring and unimagnative menu that hasn't changed in years. The restaurant... more

At inside, in the tavern area. Service was prompt and friendly. Did not eat on the patio, as menu for that area was a little too rich for seniors traveling on a budget. more

Thought it would be interesting for the teens to eat at an historical house, but thought the tavern would be less 'fancy'. When we walked into the tavern most of the tables were full. A couple of waitresses walked by and never said anything to us. We weren't sure whether to just sit or wait to be seated. We waited... more

My friends and I have been to Gettysburg 4 times and we never pass up this tavern! The atmosphere has some ambiance to it. The lighting is dim, but the candles on the tables give it that extra glow. We came here to eat dinner around 8:00 and it was rather quite. Not to many people at all. The waitress... more
