Average food not reasonable prices

If you are looking for average food then this is the place for you, we were disappointed in the menu and the prices, we actually just ordered and paid for the drinks then went elsewhere.

We came here because we were told that when JFK came to Gettysburg, he ate here and if you are lucky enough, you can sit in the same spot, which made us really want to come. The food is pretty good, but it's overpriced for the quality and amount of food.

We visit Gettysburg once a year and we always make sure to build in at least one meal at The Avenue. The building is old and the menu is pretty standard diner fair, but the location is right in the middle of everything and service is outstanding! Our most recent experience was with Laura, who was phenomenal, but all the... More

I took an out of town friend to lunch there I ordered a grilled cheese, most pathetic thing I have ever seen. The crab soup was a cold gelatin like mass. Totally nauseating. The service was great though.

We arrived around 745pm, and we were the only customers. This was our first time here and our millionth time in Gettysburg, so we decided to give this place a whirl. Glad we did! The service was top notch, drinks and food was quickly served. Food was hot and tasty. Definitely worth a repeat visit. Prices were a bit high,... More

This place had a sign outside advertising their home cooked crab dip. It was typical diner which was less than a fourth full of customers. After ordering the crab dip and the rest of our meal the waitress returns after 10 minutes and states that they do not have crab dip that day and it will nto be ready for... More

We've only eaten breakfast here but it was Delicious! My husband usually will have one of the egg specials and I have either the omelet or the french toast. Home fries definitely have to part of any breakfast. You're lucky to get a table on the high traffic weekends.

This is always our first stop when we come into town. It's tradition. Quaint diner with tasty food. Staff is friendly. Location is within walking distance to all the shops.

OK here's the deal. I love Gettysburg and this restaurant has been an anchor of the Steinwehr/Baltimore street area apparently for many years. I love it's history and the fact that when you walk in it is an older style restaurant with a counter, barstools and booths. The people who work there are genuine and lovely. I guess that is... We travel as a family quite a bit and we loved the Avenue Restaurant. Good food, good service and good prices. Well done.
