Gettysburg's only Irish-owned and operated pub offers a genuine taste of Ireland through "Ceol, cainte agus craic" Music, talk & fun. Open 7 days for lunch & dinner, The Garryowen, or "The GO" as it's know to our regulars, is as inviting as any pub found back in the old country with friendly service, a large selection of Irish whiskies, the best of Ireland's draft beers, and the perfect pour of Guinness which is complimented with a carefully picked selection of international and domestic premium beers, wines and spirits. Our kitchen prepares the most authentic Irish fare in the area from the owners' family recipes, with many ingredients imported directly from Ireland. Paired with traditional pub fare, made in house daily from scratch with local ingredients where possible. Our menu is sure to satisfy the most discerning of tastes. Enjoy your meal in our cozy dining room, by the fireplace or at the bar.The first and third Sundays of each month are a special treat for lovers of Irish music, with a traditional 'Seisun' from 2 til 5pm. Reservations are highly recommended.

Traditional Irish Pub

We stopped last week for our second visit. Food was very good. The overall ambiance is a little primitive. But if you like the traditional feel, you will like Garyowen.

The owners have doubled their dining room capacity and that is good news! They have added another small bar in the new side as well as more restrooms. The food continues to be excellent, original Irish recipes and the service is friendly. The best part is they now take reservations and you will need them, especially on weekend nights. Overall,... They had a great selection of whiskeys but the mussels and salad we had were terrible. The mussels in white wine and garlic were way too salty but they were cooked properly so its sad they ruined them with an outrageous amount of salt. My husband and I decided to go elsewhere for dinner after tasting the salad and mussels.

Always hard to get a table in the bar, the Garry Owen has a new full dining room (they bought the beautiful civil war-era building next door and knocked through the adjoining walls. It's handsomely decorate and a great alternative to the bar, which is cozy, if you are traveling with children. Great pub food. Some wonderful selections include the... More

We ended up at Garryowen because most places were closed. How lucky we were. It was the best hamburger I have had in a very long time. And they have Harp on tap, too!

We went here for dinner last night. There were few patrons because of the weather. The fish and chips were ok, the Irish stew was good. When I attempted to walk around to look at the decor, the manager stopped me at the doorway to the bar and told me I couldn't go in. I thought he was joking. He... More

Have been to Gary Owen over a dozen times and always a great time. I highly advise a Guinness draft and the fish and chips, they are amazing. Bar tenders are always friendly and they often have live music.

Selected this restaurant at random from one of the tourist maps we had on hand and had such a great dining experience and good food the first night that we ended up eating here a second time just a couple of nights later - more opportunity to try more of the delicious food on the menu! Definitely plan to wait;... More

My husband and I went to Gettysburg to see the battlefields and Eisenhower's house. Wonderful trip....we went to Garryowens for lunch. I had the shepards pie and my husband had the fish and chips. Both...just ok. Great looking place, but food...just ok. Kind of disappointing. My husband had some stomach issues, which is not usual. Great reviews, but just didn't... More
