Mistaken identity at Cafe Saint-Amand?

My wife and I visited Cafe Saint-Amand recently for a quiet celebration of our wedding anniversary in July. When making a reservation for 6.30pm on a Saturday we were advised the Cafe is a BYOB establishment, not unusual in Gettysburg. To our surprise the restaurant was less than half full and... read more

Thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary dinner here. We were greeted with smiles as soon as we walked in and were seated immediately. It was dimly lit (romantic!) but the windows brought in just enough natural light. French music played in the background. Our waitress (April?) was very nice and brought us out this heavenly Rosemary bread with herb butter. Good lord,... More

This place was a huge disappointment. They claim to be authentic French food, but I can not imagine any real French restaurant serving canned (not even frozen, canned) potatoes with its breakfast. Over priced for what you get. I am amazed it has won awards. Service is slow. I have given it three tries, and each time it was awful.

We wanted a real meal...not fast food or burgers and pizza. Cafe Saint-Amand delivered. The salmon was very good, my steak was tasty but difficult to chew. Most interesting was the odd take on "French" cuisine.

Had breakfast hoping it was a taste of France. It's okay, but the owner and staff are not French, or anywhere near French. Coffee was good, service was good, food was enjoyable. Crepes were good, eggs and sausage were greasy. Overall an enjoyable breakfast.

We had a Sunday brunch reservation, it was honored promptly and I believe that Café Saint-Amand is one of the best places to eat in Gettysburg. If you go expecting Americanized French café food in a tourist destination your expectations will sync with he reality we experienced. First the good – amazing servers and everyone worked hard to deliver food,... More

we were here for breakfast and the restaurant wasn't packed...however, the service was spotty and the wait was long...fortunately, the crepes and croissant outweighed both of the negatives!...i agree w/the previous poster, the menus are on their last breath...

We were looking for something different and came upon this charming French bistro. I had the grilled Mahi-Mahi special over risoto and spinach. Nice. Marilyn had the French dip, which she liked.

I hadn't been to Cafe St. Amand in several months so it was time to update my reviews. We started with a bowl of the days soup which was a Chicken Artichoke Chowder. It had a good flavor. It had lots of artichokes in it. As an appetizer we had the Brie with a Mushroom topping. This was a small... More

Everything we had was wonderful, but let's talk about what's most important. Dessert. Get the flourless chocolate cake. Trust me. You won't regret it.
