Great location steps from Independence Hall

My wife and I recently enjoyed a quick weekend getaway to Philadelphia. After hours on out feet we were in need of good food and some afternoon relaxation. We shared a pepperoni Stromboli and a bottle of very affordable house wine. This was a great change of pace from the tourist blues and the... read more

While the dessert (lemon cake w/raspberry drizzle) was good, it was NOT worth $9. How can they justify charging $9 for a slice of cake? Really? Scandalous!!! The pizza was $10, my mussels were $10, but $9 for a slice of cake? Insane!! That was a $5 slice of cake, tops! I hate being ripped off.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner last night with a dear friend and my teenage daughter. We were starving so we picked the right place. Started with the Broccoli Rabe and Sausage appetizer with grilled polenta - it was EXceptional! Moved along to Caesar Salads - they were fine - I'd probably share one among the group next time - But -... More

The portions were huge and the food was so good but we couldn't finish all of it. The kids menu portions are really adult portions so great leftovers. Service was above average and very accommodating for having a 2 and 8 year old. It wasn't a far walk from our hotel and we were sad we didn't have a chance... More

Very strange...... The place was packed - every table full, but while this may EXPLAIN slow service and lack-luster food, it surely doesn't EXCUSE it. Went to LaSacala's prior to a show and it was good to have had reservations,,,,,, but the place was mobbed and very noisy. Then the service was very slow. As for the food, mine was... More

The service is amazing! The food is delicious. The vodka sauce makes you want to keep indulging in it. I requested gnocchi with their homemade vodka sauce and was more than satisfied. The ambiance was quite nice as well. It is located in the historic district of Philly near the liberty bell. Will definitely be back.

My wife and I came up to Philadelphia for Valentine's weekend and were staying in the historic district so we looked for a nearby restaurant on Open Table. LaScala (named for the owner's grandfather, not the opera house) was an excellent find on Chestnut Street near 7th. Both of us had salads to start--the arugula salad was large and replete... More

We stopped in for lunch. There's a menu and window meals. And then you choose and get seated. Thing is- you feel rushed. There's a gigantic menu you can't read and then pictures and you need to order cause its lunch. So, we picked slices- which are massive. But we got an app too. The polenta was solid- but I'd... Upon arrival at LaScala, the red head lady behind the cashier booth was SO rude. She greeted me coldly, "hi how are you." I guess my response wasn't loud enough so she told her colleague in front of me (thinking that I wouldnt hear her). She said, "I said hi to her and she didnt respond back." How unprofessional that...
