The service is amazing! The food is delicious. The vodka sauce makes you want to keep indulging in it. I requested gnocchi with their homemade vodka sauce and was more than satisfied. The ambiance was quite nice as well. It is located in the historic district of Philly near the liberty bell. Will definitely be back.

My wife and I came up to Philadelphia for Valentine's weekend and were staying in the historic district so we looked for a nearby restaurant on Open Table. LaScala (named for the owner's grandfather, not the opera house) was an excellent find on Chestnut Street near 7th. Both of us had salads to start--the arugula salad was large and replete... More

We stopped in for lunch. There's a menu and window meals. And then you choose and get seated. Thing is- you feel rushed. There's a gigantic menu you can't read and then pictures and you need to order cause its lunch. So, we picked slices- which are massive. But we got an app too. The polenta was solid- but I'd... Upon arrival at LaScala, the red head lady behind the cashier booth was SO rude. She greeted me coldly, "hi how are you." I guess my response wasn't loud enough so she told her colleague in front of me (thinking that I wouldnt hear her). She said, "I said hi to her and she didnt respond back." How unprofessional that... I went to LaScala's with people from work for a holiday dinner. This was the first time visiting and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is located in a central area between the theater district and old city. There is a good sized bar and the restaurant is not cramped lime many in center city where people are shoved against... More

Joined an old friend for dinner on a Fall night around 7:30 in the bar area. It was a very quiet night midweek. I parked in the garage behind the restaurant on 7th north of Chestnut which they will validate. I started with a pint of Yuengling and the Sweet and Spicy Chicken wings with cartelized onions and gorgonzola cheese.... More
