Best pound cake

BEST POUND CAKE EVER. Was told by a native phillyan to try. Of course bakery is closed for repairs while in philly so we found a scary little deli that sold frozen ones. Even a frozen one was awesome cannot wait to get back to philly ( never thought I would say that) to get a fresh one.

Was down Stocks this past Sat to pick up a graduation cake for my son. Saw the TripAdvisor sticker on the door and thought I would add my two cents. They simply have the best pound cake in the Phila area - hands down. If not looking for a celebration cake get one of the loafs -- vanilla or chocolate... More

First went for the pound cake, which was just average. Ask for no frosting. We scraped the sugary goo off. Went back for the butter cake on the recommendation of a local. WOW! A creamy buttercream a stop a thin layer of cake. This is what memories are made of! The pound cake was nine bucks, a small pan of... More

A great Philly and neighborhood tradition. The pound cake is great but also try the butter cake. The only criticism I have is that I wish the chocolate frosting had more chocolate flavor.

Famous for pound cake which I thought was okay. A bit overrated IMO. The cookies had little flavor. The bakery took a stand against the city who tried to insist all food vendors need to use vegetable based fats for their prep. Respect the heck out of that!!!

Growing up in Fish Town, Philadelphia, the Polish-American ghetto, a/k/a "K and A", I grew up with Stock's pound cake. Not Polish themselves, but in the same location for eons, this hole-in-the-wall bakery makes "THE" best pound cake in the world. If you don't like POUND cake, don't came here! This stuff will break your foot if you drop it... More

Our families have been getting cakes here for several generations. Located in a neighborhood which appreciates it as much as anyone. We have moved away to Bucks county years ago but still return to get the cakes which can't be replaced by others. The pound and marble cakes are great as are their others. Especially for the holidays as they... More

I honestly don't get what the fuss is all about. For our office party last year, one of my coworkers said she would stop at Stock's Bakery to get a pound cake. Everyone else got excited, but since I had never had it before I just assumed that it must be really good. She brings in the thickest, driest pound... More

Small corner storefront shop with a line out the door every time I have been there. Nothing fancy but truly the very best pound cake ever. Donuts and cookies good too.

I have officially STOPPED buying and eating Stock's Pound cake (products). Two major reasons: their business style and service attitude and their pound cake is absolutely overpriced! 1) I do not like the in-your-face, hand-written "cash only" policy all over the store and the NO listing of pricing for any products in the store, or your receipt ?? --the young...
