Good not great

As others have noted, it was hard to order as the menu had no English translation. I really wanted authentic home made pasta with sauce and meatballs or sausage, no dice here. Instead I was guided to a dish that was just okay. Had I a better understanding of the menu I might have been able to... read more

We were a party of 5- dinner with colleagues. The unique cocktails were delicious - I would recommend the ginger/prosecco drink and the raspberry cocktails! The service was wonderful- the pasta we shared as an appetizer was great as was the Lombardo pizza. THe grilled skirt steak was only "ok" (when will I learn not to order skirt steak?!). The... More

Lovely combination of true Italian and a Philadelphia touch Not overly pretentious -- and the service is attentive and really nice A tip-- we were told you could order half portions on pasta and other dishes , and thus try more different flavors. We asked and they were happy to indulge Very nice wine and craft beer list -- just... More

We insist on eating at Osteria every trip to Philadelphia as the food is truly authentic Italian food as if we were eating in an Osteria in Siena. In rustic surrounds with an open kitchen, one eats delicious mostly Tuscan style Italian cuisine that has earned Chef Jeff Michaud a James Beard Award, deservedly so. One goes to Marc Vetri's... I had a set menu here and apart from way too much food the quality of the ingredients and lightness of touch shine through I failed to not pig out on the antipasti meat platter and starter pizza breads but the postage stamp ravioli were frankly some of the best fresh pasta that I have had for some time Steak... We ordered broadly and shared as we were a group of 5 adults and 3 children. For the kids we ordered two pizzas (margherita and lombarda (baked egg/sausage). Had a small slice of the lombarda; crispy thin dough, rich toppings. Nice. For antipasti we ordered grilled octopus, veal tartare w/ uni, and wild boar sausage. Everything was excellent. Excellently cooked... More

The menu is upscale Italian with a twist. The appetizers all seemed interesting but we had the fried mozzarella (what they are famous for) and it was delish! I ordered the gnocchi with veal and porcini which was one of the best pasts I have ever had. It was polenta disks instead of traditional gnocchi and the sauce reminded me... More

Last night I ate dinner at Osteria. We order grilled wild boar sausage with chianti mustard, pickled red onions and brussell. The sausage was delicious but the brussel sprouts and onions had too much vinegar which was not a good thing. I know it was supposed to be "kraut", but it did not work for me. Brussell sprouts should not... More

My family of 5, including 2 teens and 1 young adult celebrated dinner at Osteria. Pros: easy free on street parking, very nice ambiance although it was a bit chilly in the greenhouse, service was excellent, and overall food was terrific. We had the roasted vegetable appetizer and it was awesome. Entrees were also great including swordfish, duck, potato pizza.... More

i know how mr. vert feels about his diners writing reviews and that he will never see this, but i feel i have to give feedback. before he criticises me for not having the qualification to review, it would be noted that i have travelled around the world and have eaten in the finest restaurants (not always expensive) and maintain...
