We were absolutely taken back by the folding tables and old chairs. The painf was peeling on the walls. However ths wings were great and we were very surprised. The burger was ok and the beer was cold. The service was so so, the bar tender handled the entire restaurant. This made things a bit tough with young kids waiting... More

We had an awesome experience here. The food was fantastic! The bartender even gave us a round of free shots! Highly recommend! I will definitely come here again the next time I'm in Philly.

Staff are friendly and attentive, bar food is good and drinks are well priced. The bar can get busy but is usually chilled with a nice atmosphere. Check out the specials.

My wife and I stopped in here before a show at the Blockley and at first we were reluctant because of how jam packed the place was with college students. There happened to be an empty table so we sat down and immediately were given great service. We got some Teriyaki wings and Potato skins, and a couple beers. Everything... More

wanted to eat fancy, but spouse wanted to watch the knicks game. stayed in University City, so the only place with the station was Cavanaughs. Bar like, kitchen table type decor but despite my misgivings the food was pretty tasty! Salad was good, as were the French onion soup (!), ribs, burgers etc. Beer was fine lots of selection, service... More

If are dwelling in University City and are fed up with the varsity people go to Cavanaugh's on 39th & Samson for cheap beer (Yuengling at 2,75) and try their hamburgers

We were in Philly to see a comedian and wanted a low key (read: cheap) dinner at a bar. Cavanaugh's was a good choice. There's a good selection of brews on tap and the burgers were very good. Service was fast. It's an average bar, but hey, that's what we were looking for.

A nice place to go for lunch while in University City -- Crab cake sandwhich is awesome! Dinner menu is surprisingly balanced with many options; salmon, steak, seafood are all very good. HUGE salads... Service is very personable. More of a college hangout after about 10pm, but hey if thats your scene its a great place for a few drinks.

Mostly a bar. Food is bland but volume isn't bad. Summer half price specials are good times to grab some steak.
