Getting Better with Age

I've been away for far too long: I've always stopped in for a drink through the years - especially with visitors - but I brought in my family for dinner last Sunday and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. It was very fresh, very well cooked and the service was great. The corned... read more

Awesome place to grab a drink! Fun atmosphere and great service! We will be back again for sure! Plus it's on a nicer side of Center City. No homeless people and no bad smells like most of Center City that we visited.

A little hard to find, but definitely worth the trip! Fantastic onion rings, a great beer selection, and the best reuben anywhere!

Years ago we were there often. Its been a long time, same alley smell, same alley look, same beautifully English Style pub on the inside. Enjoyed wings, cheese fries, saw customers still helping themselves to the beef broth based soup for free, and still the long rows of tables creating a community feel. Don't try to drive there, park somewhere... More

I was meeting a friend for lunch in Philly on a Friday in August and he suggested McGillin's. The wait staff was attentive. The décor is simple - pub-like. I wasn't sure what to get for lunch so I went with what my friend was having - open face roast beef with gravy. It was good. In addition to those,... More

If you're looking for a laid back drink at a historic bar you'll find half of that here. It is billed as Philadelphia's oldest pub. It might also be the most obnoxious with packed college aged heavy drinkers. The place is very loud and was shoulder to shoulder on the Wednesday night we were here.

So we wanted to stop by to see the place and grab a Philly cheesesteak as we hadn't had one yet. Very popular place. Loved the vibe of the place. Plenty of seating with TVs to watch sports. Has upstairs seating as well. Service was prompt and the food pretty good. Definately stop by.

We couldn't wait to arrive at an old historic bar and drink some good local draft and play darts BUT this place was CRAZY! It was filled with drunk college kids (showing my age). The drink college kids should go elsewhere lol... I wanted a low key beer night lol. The place was so packed you couldn't move and every... More
