We enjoyed our meal but there were a ton of people there the night we went, literally had a guy trying to sit ON our table, if it weren't for the food, I'd rate it terrible

in the alley leading to the front door of McGillin's. It's a really nice place with a great vibe. Lots of young people (at midday on a Saturday in January) with a scattering of 60-somethings (like me!) enjoying the good food and drink. Prices are reasonable and the food is tasty and served quickly.

You are going to like this place if your into history and matching ambiance. We were told by a local that this was a place that had to be seen if in the Convention Center area in downtown Philadelphia. The place can be missed if your not paying attention. The entrance is located in what looks to be a well... More

I ventured to this old restaurant/tavern for the nostalgia. I wasn't sure if the food would be good or not. The experience was great! There is plenty to look at (historic eye candy) and many great signs, metal autographs etc. It's really a cool place to visit if you have the time. Access is from Drury Street. When you turn... This is a neat stop in City Center. We walked from the Marriot (2 1/2 blocks). A fun place good prices. Food was good, service was great. Continuously in business since 1860 (the sign says) and looks it. A bit worn out, but that adds to the ambiance. It was quite cold during our visit, but they had the fireplace... More

We were visiting the Redding Terminal market and decided we should have lunch. The place was so crowded, we decided to go out of the market and find some place nearby. On the quality of the trip advisor reviews, we chose McGillin's. Wow, what a great choice! It is a hidden gem, tucked off the street down an alleyway, and... More

Kat: So glad that Trip Advisor led you to our door. And glad that you had so much fun. We are family-owned and operated and always enjoy seeing families. We attract lots of families, especially for lunch and especially around the holidays when they're in town shopping and visiting Christmas displays. Hope you'll stop by again. Cheers! More

Free bowl of soup everyday. The place is filled with many Philadelphia historic iconic trademarks and signs. Friendly atmosphere close to Macy's and St. John's if you ever want to go to the Noon mass first and then have a manhattan with your lunch.

I came to Philly in late October and I was stuck in deciding where to have dinner. Then I discovered McGillin's. As most reviewers say, it's dark and noisy. But the atmosphere is great nevertheless. You don't expect a fine dining experience, more of a loud homely type feel. Meals were cheap. Was lucky to get the 30 something cents... More
