Free bowl of soup everyday. The place is filled with many Philadelphia historic iconic trademarks and signs. Friendly atmosphere close to Macy's and St. John's if you ever want to go to the Noon mass first and then have a manhattan with your lunch.

I came to Philly in late October and I was stuck in deciding where to have dinner. Then I discovered McGillin's. As most reviewers say, it's dark and noisy. But the atmosphere is great nevertheless. You don't expect a fine dining experience, more of a loud homely type feel. Meals were cheap. Was lucky to get the 30 something cents... More

Good value for your money. Cool atmosphere and history. It is loud as previous reviewers stated but you can sit on the second floor where it is a bit quieter.

Circa 1860 the oldest Irish pub in Philly. The place is dark & noisy but has a great old historical pub feel. The place was very busy but we were able to get seats at the long bar area. We ordered a beer flight of 6 local brews & hot chicken wings. The beers were ice cold & tasty. The... More

Our family and friends have been going to philadelphia for thanksgiving, 7 years in a row, this year 8! We only just started coming here 2years ago and we plan on going this year. Mcgillins offers comfort food and it's the place to be with your family and friends!!! It's not very clean, but it has that grungy Irish feel... More

Good food reasonably priced and served promptly, what else do you say? Lots of draft choices, we had Yuengling and 1860 IPA ale and they were great, Wings are 35 cents each on Tuesday and the cheesesteak at $6.99 is a delicious treat. Bar is colorful with lots of Phila memorabilia. Its a little noisy but thats part of the... More

Two yrs since we last visited and as good as ever, emailed the owner Chris to ask if they had any special nights going on when we were there and he got back straight away which is good service. We ate there on two occasions and the atmosphere was great, the food was on the money as well. I had... More

Very cool place with good, simple food and good, inexpensive beer. Stopped here for drinks before we headed out for dinner, a little crowded but overall a great stop to make if your in town. Be sure to have exact directions or you will miss it.

I went here with a friend while visiting Philadelphia. The rustic atmosphere was fascinating to me, but the crowded seating arrangements were uncomfortable and the place was too LOUD for conversation. The service was okay, but the food was mediocre. One rabbit ear up! (\ (\ ( -.-) o_(")(")

Tons of beers, great atmosphere, lots of history. Only problem: Really hard to find! Philladelphia got bigger and this bar stayed the same; it's in an alley! They put a great big neon sign facing the street though, so just looking down the alley you'll see it. Highly recommend.
