while in Philly we drove out to the corner where 2 cheesesteak houses sit, Genos and Pats, it was decided that 2 of us would order Genos and 2 would eat at Pats since the daughter doesn't eat beef and ate a hotdog she went to Pats...we sat at Genos because we ordered fries and drinks for all 4 of... Recently was in philly stopped on the way in town and tried both genos and pat's; me and my fiance split a sandwich at both. The food was great; delicious cheesesteak although I would give the edge to pats; line was very long but moved moderately and once ordered got our sandwich very quickly. The thing that put me off... I was in Philly for a weekend business trip and had to try both Geno's and Pat's. Neither quite met my expectations, but definitely worth the experience. Our group arrived around 1:00 am and the crowd wasn't too bad. I had the sandwich with cheese and onions and it was okay. Service was quick and staff was friendly. Definitely a... More

Great Sandwich and fries. Everyone in Philly knows Geno's. This is an outdoor seating only deli style facility. It is a cross the street from another famous purveyor of Philly Cheese Steaks. Take cash. No credit cards. Odd also is that you pay for your sandwich at one window then you have to get in another window like about 15... More

My Philadelphia friends were equally split (as the Food Network portrayed) on who had the best cheesesteaks....since Geno's was a veteran establishment (USMC), I went with these guys....the sandwich was exellent and for me the difference in these sandwiches and imposters across the nation was the quality of the meat used....I've had ones I liked better, more cheese, different bread,... I came to Geno's & Pat's many years ago and enjoyed both cheesesteaks, but this time around it was terrible. I brought my West Coast Nephew with me for his 1st taste of South Philly and he said "the meat is not seasoned and the put the cheese on bun and not the meat". I must agree the meat was... More

I tried both Geno's and Pat's one right after the other because there were no lines at either place -- for a reason?! No I did not eat two full cheesesteaks within a matter of minutes, thankyouverymuch! :) I had a few bites of each one and I have to say, they aren't anything special and for the price, definitely... A must have cheesesteak. Delicious. True Philly taste. Parking can be difficult during busy travel times. Open 24 hrs.

Travelled to Philly for a convention so a group of us made to thrip to South Philly to get a famous cheesesteak. Nobody was impressed and many went across the street to Pats. The bread was the worst part being very tough. I had better cheesesteaks at booths in the Reading Terminal Market.
