Holy food, batman!

Some friends told us we had to stop here, so we did. For someone who is only visiting a day or two, unless you are looking for a quick bite or some yummy goodness (think cookies, ice cream or several chocolate shops) there's not alot for you. But if you are staying a week and plan on doing a... read more

It's not in the nicest part of the city, but it's always fun -- a kaleidoscope of vendors, from Mexican and Asian to Amish, chocolate to beef jerky. The crowds vary by time and day -- early is better.

Hoping to miss the lunch rush, I went to Reading Terminal after the traditional lunch hour in hopes of a steak sandwich. If you are going to try this on a Saturday, as I did, be prepared for it not to be too successful. The market was still crowded, and there was a line (and not a small one) at... More

My family was staying for a week in Philadelphia and ate three times at the Reading Terminal Market. All the meals were great. Particularly noteworthy were Hershel's Deli, Tommy DiNic's Beef/Pork Sandwiches and Beiler's Bakery (Donuts). The roast pork sandwich at DiNic's was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. But all the food shops looked interesting. An... More

We heard about this while waiting in line for tickets to Independence Hall. Upon the suggestion of others, we went to Reading Terminal Market for lunch the next day. If you have a sweet tooth -- be warned! There is an amazing selection of sweets, chocolates, and the like.

What a fun place to have something to eat. So much to choose from, but since we are from Oklahoma we knew we needed to have a Philly cheese-steak sandwich. The one we ordered was very good, and plenty big enough for the two of us to share.

Fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, and plenty of places to eat. It was very busy, and parking around the area is very expensive.

We ate at the Dutch Eating Place 3 times in a week the blue berry pancakes are huge and 3 are a struggle. The porridge is also excellent. Their home made donuts opposite are also excellent

You have to have a meal here. Open from 8:00 am to 6:00pm. Recommend getting your Philly Steak sandwich here and the pulled pork at Tommy Dinics. If you have picky eaters everyone can find something here

Reading Terminal Market is one of the best markets we've seen in the US, reminiscent to the markets you find in Europe but with decidedly American tastes and offerings. You could easily spend several hours, our only regret was not coming hungry as there are numerous choices for good good but also lots of artesian cheese shops, butchers, candy, chocolates... More
