We tried the Down Home Diner as a change of pace from the hotel restaurant and the local IHOP. Our waitress was wonderful - very quick and efficient. We thought the breakfast food prices were a tad overpriced. Also, in the dining section away from the counter seating, it was rather crammed if you sat at a freestanding table rather... More

Everything we ordered was bad. The roast turkey dinner was salt laden. The accompanying mashed potatoes were virtually inedible due to the amount of black pepper in them. Blueberry pancakes were dry and crumbly. Mac and cheese looked and tasted like it had been sitting around all day. Don't bother.

but it's not everybody's favorite place - it is the quietest, least crowded spot in the Reading Terminal Market however. There are many, many food choices in Reading Terminal but the Down Home Diner is off to the side and it offers a mixture of traditional diner choices with lots of regional offerings not common to Philadelphia like 'po boys',... Upon arriving here and reading the menu and being promised that all food is fresh and stays true to its farm to table concept, I was disappointed. I ordered the pecan crusted catfish with collard greens and baked beans. Not only did the catfish taste like it was frozen, but it was not pecan crusted or even dusted. It tasted... More

Good food and good prices. One waitress was serving 7 tables so she did her best but was stressed, so service couldn't be judged. I had tomato basil soup and a Philly cheese steak and it was cooked well. I would go back if back in the area.

Nothing special. Just your average diner breakfast. Pretty vast menu. Clean tables. Food came out quick and hot. Would recommend the $8 per person breakfast here over the $15 per person at the hotel.

Got breakfast here. Bacon was a bit greasy, but pancakes were delicious! Decor was old, and the bench cushion was broken but all in all, great!

Breakfast was cheese steak omelet and their blueberry oatmeal all good. Fresh grapefruit was a little sharp, orange juice good. Service prompt price reasonable, did not try coffee.

I went to Down Home for Sunday morning breakfast. I had the shrimp and grits, I really enjoyed the taste. The portion was adequate, I don't like a large breakfast and it had a little fresh fruit on the side, which I also enjoyed. The decor was excellent, I really felt like I was in a country diner. Next time... More

Had breakfast here on a Saturday morning. It was beyond awful. The coffee was weak and lukewarm. I had to ask for cream with every cup because she kept forgetting for the few times I could actually flag her down and get a crappy cup of coffee. My oatmeal with "fresh fruit" was ice cold and lumpy with mushy fruit.... More
