This is an Amish restaurant in the Amish "corner" of the Reading market. They are closed on Sundays. You will be sitting on a bar stool if you get a seat. It opened at 8 am on Saturday and we were there at 8 AM. Within 10 minutes there was a line! Message--get there early. This is like going to... More

The food was good. I ordered the cinnamon apple french toast combo. It wasn't loaded in quantity, a perfect portion for one person. That's what I like when I'm travelling and I know that I will be on foot for a long time. I also shared a apple dumpling with my husband after, which was also good. Its a whole... More

We visited the Dutch Eating Place twice in one day. Breakfast and a late lunch. Both meals were out of this world. Breakfast consisted of 2 eggs cooked to your liking, toast and a pile, not just a couple pieces, of bacon. All for just $4.49. While we waited, our Amish waitress brought out a platter of cookies. Best cookies... More

For us, a visit to Philadelphia is not complete without a visit to Reading Terminal Market and breakfast at the Dutch Eating Place. This is a small luncheonette like restaurant within the market. During busy times, there are two lines, one for carryout and one for seating. If the line for seating looks long, don't despair. People move in and... More

I had the raisin french toast with bacon and my husband had the pancakes, eggs and sausage. Let me tell you it was great! We really enjoyed our breakfast. Next time will ask for potatoes and sausage instead. Didn't realize they had it. I saw their apple dumplings and didn't realize they are suppose to be delicious. I read the... More

We try to eat here whenever we visit the market early in the morning. My advice is to get here early as their is only counter seating and its hard for larger groups to get seated. The food is great and gets served quickly. Don't plan on sitting around drinking coffee because they want you in and out to get... More

Sure there a lot of people and noise. But they will welcome you up to the counter and make you feel at home. You have to try the chicken pot pie. It felt like it was made just for you. It a hard place to find in the market but you should seek this place out. You will find yourself... More

The soup, homemade roll, cole slaw, and chicken and dumplings were great - miss that type of old style cooking from family restaurants now that chains are about all that exist.

This is a very simple diner-esque Amish eatery in the Reading Terminal Market. We waited about 30 minute sin the queue for seats at the counter and it was well worth it. Food is traditional Amish comfort food. Very heavy. This is not a place for vegetarians or people afraid of butter. Breakfast is traditional eggs, bacon, pancakes and local... More
