We stumbled on this place on a Sunday at 10am when we were looking for breakfast while visiting our son in Philly who only has an hour before going to work. I was dubious at first by the look of this place; diner? cocktail lounge? But we saw a fair number of people eating breakfast inside and since we had... More

The Continental is a perfect spot if you are with a group of people who have different preferences for food. Cuisines included Indian, American, and Asian. Sizes ranged from "Snacks" to "Bigs" with small plates and salads for those who are looking for something in the center of the spectrum. My favorites were the grilled octopus and lump crab pad... We had a large group (14) in town for a meeting, and our meeting organizer made a reservation here. We were seated in a separate room, which accommodated our group nicely. Favorite appetizers included steamed edamame and the shoestring potatoes. Caution- the delicious Brussels Sprouts and the Continental salad are huge- we shared with the table and still took some... My friend recommended we dine at this restaurant. I checked out the menu online and it looked great. I was shocked when I walked in to find a modern diner. It definitely was not what I was expecting! Maybe I'm too old and/or expected something a little more sophisticated. The service was great and the food was pretty good. The... More

We came in after finding great reviews online and it was our only night in Philly and it just wasn't worth spending our only dinner meal. We walked in and while the decor is nice the service was very subpar. We were taken upstairs and then shifted around as the table we were given was then taken by the lounge... More

A cheery atmosphere. Bright colors, happy people, nice staff. But that does not make up for over salted food. French onion dumplings, quinoa salad, south west salad all with an abundance of salt hiding the rich flavor underneath

The continental is by far one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia and offers great food, with amazing service. I highly recommend this to anyone living or staying in Philadelphia. The Continental is by far one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia or at least in my list of restaurants.

This diner is the best. Service was wonderful. Food was delicious. I love the many apps to choose from. Makes it fun to order several. We had the spinach ravioli (delicious) and the pop shrimp and calamari (served cleverly in a cone shaped newspaper). They have a full bar and dim the lights for dinner. Makes for nice ambiance.

Shareable plates served family style. I didn't care much for the hummus, but there were several meatless options to please our mixed vegetarian/carnivore crowd.
