The food is exquisite at this restaurant and the atmosphere is amazing. A wonderful place to eat when in Philly.
Did a salad and lobster risotto, both of which we're disappointing, the lobster ravioli was huge, soupy and extremely bland, tasted like it was just water although there was a lot of meat. Sat in the bar and although I was the only one I'm the bar service was very slow.
Recently, friends associated with Penn dined with us at Penne, a place where one of them eats several times a week. The atmosphere was very comfortable; the wine list was good, and the service was attentive. We began with soups and salads. The butternut squash soup was outstanding. Main courses included pastas and risottos. My lobster risotto was very good,... More
Ate here because I was staying at the Hilton and did not feel like venturing out. I had the sweet potato ravioli, which was the cheapest thing on the menu at $16. That, being said, there weren't many choices on the menu, which was disappointing.
I decided to give Penne a second chance after a mediocre experience a few years ago. I sat at the bar early on a Wednesday evening and ordered a pasta dish. The food was very good and the bartender was attentive and friendly. However, when the bill came I was charged about 50% more for my entree than had been... More
Definitely not something to go out of your way to try, but if you're staying at the Inn at Penn and want dinner or a drink, this place had good food, delicious desserts, nice ambiance and a good staff.
Nice place for the University City area, however a bit pricey. I didn't like the Valentine's Day menu but they were nice enough to allow us to swap out the salad for something else. If you are looking for standard Italian fare, this isn't the place for you. Wonderful ambiance for a date. Best tiramisu I ever had.
My friends and I on a whim wanted to try something new so we tried the Penne. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. The menu is small, but the food was delicious. You can get an appetizer sized portion or for $8.00 extra add more to your plate. Everyone in my party went for the appetizer portion which was plenty... More
the salad with yellow beet made a delicious lunch so was the grilled chichen sandwich. We also retuned in the evening for happy hour with a group of 8. The drinks and the yummy appetizers were so reasonably priced during happy hour. The folks working there both at lunch and in that evening were attentive and friendly.
Nice, trendy and expensive Euro style Italian restaurant. No parking, sometimes they may have a valet. Small portions, we had the 4 course V-day special. The meal was ok, the sqaush soup app was the highlight. No cranberries in my croutini. Very energetic scene aka noisey. Centered in a busy college student area of U-city. An ok place for lunch...
