I was disappointed in the Chart House. It lost its luster, no outdoor Holiday decor, inside was not at all festive. The parking area was under construction, no valet service anymore. The interior was in great need of repair, and sprucing up. The service was...poor, we ordered ours meals which took a good 45-1 hour to arrive, no wine delivered as requested. The bathroom was disgusting and looked like it was never cleaned. This was a Saturday in December, and you think they would have been ready for many patrons. The food was not anything specular, I would say average. Chart House is not a four star restaurant! I had wonderful memories of this place and after this visit I will never go back.More

Had the inclusive meal. Big Caesar salad, wonderful medium rare prime rib, asparagus and warm lava with vanilla ice cream. Ava(?) was our server. Wonderful suggestions for choice of wine. Very attentive. The view outside was breathtaking. We had a wonderful romantic dinner

Servers make you feel like you are bothering them. Such a beautiful view and service is terrible , food is OK. Will never go back there and won't recommend it, with the prices you pay here you can go to any the finest restaurants that...Philly has to offer .More

Went here with a group of friends for July 4th. My first impression was that staff was very stiff and unfriendly. Bartender was less than enthusiastic when my friends ordered drinks at the bar. We told our waitress that we were there to enjoy the...view and fireworks. Her reply was, "if you wanted to see fireworks you should have come Saturday, July 1". She had a little bit of an attitude and rarely smiled. We were served bread basket almost immediately, but it did take some time between the salad order and our main course. The restaurant was not overly crowded. All of us enjoyed our meals; food was good, serving sizes were just right. For dessert I ordered the mini lava cake which did not disappoint. Lastly, we did get to see fireworks delivered courtesy of Wiggins Park, Camden, NJ.More

The evening got off to a poor start when I stood at the front desk on my own for 5 minutes but I was eventually shown to a very nice table overlooking the river. I started with a bowl of lobster bisque which was OK...but no more, and not that hot. Before I'd had half of it my prime rib arrived. I'm not sure if they expected me to alternate between rib and soup, or let the beef cool while I finished the soup (the option I chose)> The rib itself was really good (though not nearly as good as the one I had a few days later at the Rittenhouse Grill). The waitress asked if I was OK with the asparagus being served with butter and breadcrumbs, but she didn't ask if I was OK with it almost raw. I was a little surprised to find it like that, but I got used to itMore

We stopped in for happy hour drink and snacks. It wasn’t so happy… The overall service was disappointing. We would order drinks and the bartender would do dishes and clean up instead of making the drink. It would take 10-20 minutes to get a simple...drink. My first mojito was very good. The next two were not so good. My wife ended up not drinking her last drink because it just was not good. And this was one of their specialty signature drinks. The bartenders were very friendly. The bar area was very noisy. There are great views of the Delaware River and the boat traffic from this bar area. The Chart House chain has gone down hill. We were recently at a Chart House in the Daytona Beach area and we also had disappointing service. Parking is under construction, so parking was limited. I hope they work on the service here because it is a beautiful venue.More

We attended the Chart House for a 60th Birthday dinner. Overall, the experience was horrible. We were there for over 2 hours and received the bread basket at the same time as the Entrèes. Although the waiter was friendly, he did not deliver. in fact,...he disappeared for long periods of time. We waited for drinks for about 40 mins and appetizers for over an hour. 2 of our guests arrived late and were told that they could not attend because their lateness would slow the waiter down. It made sense, except for the fact that we still had not received our entrèes. In fact, some of us still had not received the appetizers that we ordered. My Mother-In-Laws night was ruined.... Never Again.More

Two star outing.Based on service and inattentiveness of bar tender. Stopped in for apps and drinks the apps were fine and food was fine but the place seemed empty and we were sitting at bar. The staff were slow and again inattentive.

It has been a long time since I felt compelled to write a bad review for a restaurant but my experience at The Chart House in Philadelphia warrants one. I booked a Christmas dinner for my family and their significant others hoping that the restaurant...would kick off our Holiday celebration. When we arrived we were told that they were running late on sitting diners. Ok.It IS Christmas after all. As we made our way from the bar area to front desk to check on our table, I heard a waitress behind me huffing and spouting “some people have their own agenda “ I guess I wasn’t walking fast enough for her. We finally led to our table and our server Aaron was prompt in taking our drink order. We ordered the wine bottle special listed on the menu only to have Aaron return to say they were out of it. Ok. He replaced it with another similar type and took our appetizer order for the fried calamari only to return to advise that the fryer was broken. Now I’m getting a bad feeling about this place. So we nixed the appetizer and ordered our prix fixe dinner and while the first course came out at a decent time, the entrees were delayed. And delayed. And delayed. Aaron did his best to assure us the food was on its way. He even had the manager come over to apologize. It is now about two hours past our reservation time of 7:30 and still no entree. The food finally arrived and it was just mediocre at best for the price. The talk at our table was that we have seen enough but not before I looked in the direction of the bar only to see one of the front desk employees actually vaping in the restaurant. I couldn’t believe it. That was enough for me and my family. We asked that the desserts be boxed so we could pay the bill and get out of there. Never again will I eat at another Chart House on Christmas or any other day.More

I know the Chart House sometimes gets mixed reviews. But our dinner there tonight was fantastic. Food was delicious, service was attentive, ambience was wonderful. It wasn't perfect, but you know, stuff happens, and the few flaws did not detract from our enjoyment. A group...of friends from far corners of the world, we meet up once a year and always celebrate at the Chart House. Due to the pandemic we could not meet in 2020 or 2021, and we missed it, so we were all looking forward to tonight. I give top marks to the lobster bisque that I'd been daydreaming about since 2019... so rich and plenty of lobster in it. My prime rib arrived a little too rare, but that was quickly remedied, and it was delicious! The first glass of wine I chose wasn't a winner, but my second glass, the J. Lohr cabernet, was perfect with the prime rib. And the creme brulee sampler was exactly the right finish to the meal, with interesting flavor variations on the classic. The few imperfections we noted were minor. Our reservation happened to coincide with the departure of the Spirit cruise, which apparently shares the same driveway, so we were delayed by that traffic. Another item we'd been daydreaming about since 2019, the Torched Apple Manhattan, was missing the cherry and the large whiskey ice cube, but it was still delicious. I think they are still getting back on their feet after the pandemic, so I can forgive a couple of missteps. I have high hopes that they will continue on an upward trajectory and be every bit as fabulous as they have always been. One other note, we were sorry to find that Wade the former manager had retired, as he always made sure to take care of us. We missed him tonight... but we wish him all the best in his retirement!More

Our servers Will and Shelly were WONDERFUL. Not sure if the manager, Wade appreciates their hard work. They were short-staffed and did a tremendous job. Wade pretty much seemed very rude and unappreciative of his employees. The apps were very good. The dinners were just...okay. The service at the bar downstairs was terrible and completely disorganized. We went for a party but not likely to return.More

The last time I visited The Chart House was in 2017. I gave a 3-star review. Five years later, nothing's changed! When you compare Chart House to similar Philly restaurants, it just looks stale, staid and stuck in the 80's. The menu is dull-- even...visually. The food tastes mediocre. (My lobster bisque can be best described as warmed-up Thousand Island dressing.) I did enjoy my steak, but tbh, I got most excited about the condiment cocktail sauce-- great w/ shrimp! Our riverside patio table was very nice, and our waiter Aaron did a great job! 👍🏾 However, when dining costs $182 (no alcohol), there should be something more to really brag about here. A nice view with cocktail sauce just isn't enough. IMO, Chart House is resting on its old laurels and needs a Millennial new-blood transfusion. 2017 Review: The Chart House's best feature is its location. There are lots of tables with window seating and outdoor dining alongside the Delaware River and in view of the Ben Franklin Bridge. However, based on my last few visits to CH, the food and service are standard-- not bad, just ok. Our 2 entrees, 1 soup, 1 salad and soft drinks cost $126 (w/ tax & tip). I'm really not complaining about the bill, but, at that price point, I wish I had more to rave about than the restaurant's views. With more attention to some basic details, The Chart House could be a memorable dining experience everytime-- and should be!More

Last week we went for a brunch with a family group. We called a day before to make reservation and they said you would not need it as we accept walk-in as well. Once there, we spoke to the Manager who was very unpleasant, disrespectful...and did not want to let us be seated as they had an event the same day. We understood some upcoming event may occur last minute, even this kind of event should be known before and the staff should be aware when customers called. But, to have this behavior and toughness from one the Management staff that is inacceptable.More
