5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2014 NEW

(I rarely give 5 star reviews unless there's something remarkable about a hotel or restaurant like: location, service, food or atmosphere).. What's Fri, Sat, Sun like? Imaging having a friend with a townhouse off Rittenhouse Square. Then imagine the friend was a really, really, really good cook. Now image you were invited for a dinner party with cool guests. That's... More

30 plus years ago we dined at this restaurant and continue to go there from time to time. The restaurant was in the forefront of the explosion of wonderful restaurants in the city. It was very good then and remains so today. We recently returned and had a wonderful dinner, the mushroom soup (one of the standards of the restaurant)... More

This is one of the only remaining restaurants from the Philly Restaurant Renaissance of the 70's!!! It is super funky and a little dark. But the food is top notch!!!! They are well known for their mushroom soup! We took friends there last year and, after one of our guests tasted his soup, he jokingly asked the waiter to cancel... More

We had looked forward to our meal here, as we had read great reviews. The food and drinks were delicious, BUT, the waitress made 2 nasty remarks to my husband, as well as when she walked away to another person, that he should know better than to just order a salad at dinner time. Well, my husband was feeling ill,... More

We had dinner here several months ago,and it is a restaurant I would visit again. It is small and cozy and we were there with friends to celebrate a birthday. The mushroom soup was really good and i had fish for dinner, which was excellent. One friend got a live pate for an appetizer which she shared and we all loved... More

My wife and I went withanother couple and enjoyed the food, the wait staff and the ambiance. The only trouble was the table was soooo small for four people we had to ask that the bread basket be taken away when our main course came......but it did make it intimate! I had talapia which was terrific. I will definitely go... More

I read the reviews and my husband and I decided to take a chance on going to Friday Saturday Sunday. We have been back several times and now it's one of our favorite places. The restaurant is tiny and highly recommend making reservations especially if you go on the weekend and yes the restaurant is open seven days a week... More

When I travel I'm always looking for places that remind me of the great restaurants we have in Brooklyn. This is one of them. Small, friendly service and really good seasonal food. This is American cooking at its best. Maybe Philadelphia really is the new Brooklyn.

Never had a bad meal here in the forty years I've been going. Every guest I've taken here has also enjoyed it. Most of the staff has worked here for decades. Exceptional wine list, modestly priced. They have never had to advertise because word of mouth has been so strong over the years. Suggest the mushroom soup and the chèvre... More

I went in with a friend after 9 in the middle of the week. Other restaurants were not as accommodating. The service was wonderful. They were so hospitable. The food was delicious as well! I would definitely return.
