Good food and ambiance

I ordered the house specialty, crispy duck, which was excellent and my husband ordered the daily special of perch. We shared a semifreddo hazlenut for dessert. Food was excellent, wines were good, and the underground ambiance makes for a cozy and romantic place to dine.

Had a lovely dinner here last evening. The restaurant is predominantly on the lower level with a bar and piano player as you enter. Decor is dark but attractive and...solid. Stone floors and staircase with the feel of an ancient cloister are authentic and remind you that modern architects and designers cannot necessarily replicate something which has the feel of... While we have been to Bistro numerous times, we had not been back for awhile for numerous reasons. We remembered last night why we keep coming back. I would put the Service up against any 4 star restaurant in the city, its unbeatable. Sergio was our waiter on this birthday occaison, but it hasn't mattered who the server was, all... More

Bistro Romano was way beyond my expectations. The food, staff, and atmosphere here were amazing. The house wine was something that I will now be buying at home. I can't wait to go back !

This was my third visit to Bistro Romano and it is fast becoming a go-to restaurant in Philadelphia for me. Loads of atmosphere and fabulous food. Excellent wine list and very friendly serving staff. Our waiter, Sergio, was extremely nice and made some excellent recommendations. Definitely worth the trip into the city!

We have just completed another superb meal at Bistro Romano. This is our third visit in the past year. The quiet and romantic ambience, attentive and gracious service enhance carefully prepared and delicious dinners to make this restaurant our favorite in Philadelphia, one we reserve for special occasions. On our most recent visit we had a delicious small treat, compliments... More

My daughter chose Bistro Romano for a family dinner based on the reviews on Tripadvisor, which I generally find quite reliable. As noted in some of the recent reviews, service was excellent, the atmosphere is very nice, restaurant is not too loud to have a conversation, and the Caesar salad (made at the table) was very good. Also, the table... More

The entrées or absolutely delicious! The Caesar salad is a must have! In addition, it is a place that you can visit for a romantic evening out or a special evening with your girlfriends. Either way, you will love the atmosphere!

We drove into the city about 8:15. It was cold and the city was eerily quiet do to the holiday weekend. We parked at a parking garage at 2nd and Lombard. About 1 block away from Bistro Romano. The location is a historic area of old Philadelphia known as Society Hill. The streets are cobble stoned and the sidewalks are... More
