We stopped here before visiting the penitentiary. Delicious portabella mushroom sandwich and hand cut fries!

This is directly opposite the Eastern State Penitentiary so very convenient when visiting before of after. The food was good quality (Cheesesteak Sandwich) and service was polite and efficient. The restaurant was open at the front allowing almost on street dining which was a blessing on a hot day.

I had lunch at jack's firehouse. It was the best american burger i have got in america. You also got salad to the plate and fries. Very tasteful and made out of good quality ingredients.

We stopped at Jack's during a Made in America event having had a nice meal there a few years ago. We sat at one of their outside tables, which was a very pleasant atmosphere. The wait staff were pleasant as well. My husband had a brisket sandwich, which he said was reasonably good. I had a catfish sandwich, which had... More

After touring Eastern State we stopped here for a beer. We checked out the menu and ended up ordering a sampler BBQ dish. Enjoying it so much, we returned on another day for dinner. The food is delicious!

We had talked and talked about stopping at Jack's Firehouse, in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia, for sometime and when we finally made the time we were a little disappointed with the experience. There was limited outdoor (casual) seating which is what we were looking for at this time. Jack's has some menu restrictions with regards to their seating and... More

As Center City Philadelphia residents, we have a lot of choices when it comes to dining out. We've walked and driven past Jack's Firehouse a thousand times, but since it is not in our neighborhood, we never felt compelled to choose it over a closer option. That changed last weekend when we took a long walk up to the Fairmount... More

Stopped in here for some drinks after visiting Eastern State Penitentiary (it's directly opposite the entrance). It's a lovely bar with lots of old, quirky things from being an old firehouse. The cocktails were lovely (especially the vodka ice tea one).

We ate here after visiting the east state penitentiary, it's right across the street from the prison entrance. We sat down to be immediately welcomed and served with a complimentary bottle of ice cold water (which is very welcome as it's hot this time of year). We placed our food order and then received complimentary scones (or biscuits as they... More

We enjoyed lunch on the patio that looks into the neighbors balconies and the restaurant smoker grills. It felt neighborly but I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like in the evening it the neighbors were home -- perhaps like a neighborhood BBQ? The food was good but not great, there was a hair in one dish which... More
