Food was good, service was average

If you're visiting Eastern State Penitentiary, than Jack's is a decent place to eat and it is right across the street. Shouldn't need a reservation for lunch, but probably should make one for dinner. We stopped here after visiting Eastern State Penitentiary. It was right across the street in an old firehouse. The food and staff are stellar. The decor is really cool and the extra touches like complimentary cornbread, biscuits and cherries, as well as oven fresh cookies are a nice touch. I can't wait to return this summer.

A group of 18 ate here after the MS walk and we were pleased. Nice Bloody Mary. Wasn't the best ever but it was good. I had the quesadilla and it was good. Friends had the bbq ribs and thought they were outstanding. Other friend had bbq platter and really enjoyed it too!

My family and I are regulars here. Jacks is consistently a good value with nice ambience, a great bar and thoughtful touches like biscuits and cherries before and cookies after dinner, both complimentary. The ribs are delightful.

I recently traveled to Philly with my mother-in-law and we stopped here for lunch. I had been here once before for business and really enjoyed it, so I wanted to share it with her. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious (we order much more than we could eat), and the atmosphere of this converted old fashioned fire house... More

I was across town enjoying the city and while searching places to eat stumbled on this. No regrets. The setting is very old school but the food I cannot complain about. Great service though we came in at a slow time. Definitely coming back, pocket friendly too.

We stopped at Jack's on a cold and snowy day after walking the Eastern Penitentiary. Jack's is right across the street. The soups were delicious. I had the pea soup, my daughter had the sweet potato soup and my husband had the mushroom soup. All were served hot and fresh. Our main courses were also very tasty. The bread basket... More

Jack's has been a favorite for many years. It may not be the fanciest place, but the food is absolutely top notch. Went with a co-worker for lunch. The brisket shows why it was Jack who was teaching Bobby Flay how to barbecue back in the early days of the Food Network. Fairly priced. The sour cherries for the complimentary... More
